Number 1: A Perfect Fit.
Lets face it, Payne is a big guy who can shoot, which makes him a great pick for our system in Atlanta.
Danny Ferry said it best, "We want to play with pace and space - Adreian is someone that can do both from being able to run the court and compete on both ends, along with being able to shoot the basketball.”

Number 2: Adreian Payne has style.
Payne decided to rock a flashy suit during his draft night which included a pair of bright purple pants. We think Hawks CEO Steve Koonin summed it up the best: "Someone who wears purple pants to the draft is a badass, and I like having a badass on our team". He also rocked a pretty sweet bowtie and a plaid jacket.
Number 3: He's great on AND off the court.
The entire nation saw just what a high-quality guy Payne is during the 2014 NCAA Tournament when we learned about his relationship with 8 year old cancer patient, Lacey Holsworth. Payne became close friends with Holsworth only months after the death of his own grandmother. After exchanging motivational texts with Lacey weekly and bringing her to Michigan State games for the past two years, Lacey lost her battle with cancer.
In her honor,"Adorable Lacey" was embedded into the lining of his jacket during draft night.
Number 4: He has experience.
Payne stands above many other draft prospects with his level of experience after using all four years of eligibility during his time at Michigan State.
