Yes Yes Yes! Hawks To Retire #55 On Dikembe Mutombo Night

The Atlanta Hawks will be adding a fourth retired jersey to the rafters of Philips Arena.

CEO Steve Koonin announced Tuesday that the team will retire Hall-of-Famer Dikembe Mutombo's #55 during a ceremony Nov. 24 against the Boston Celtics.

The announcement came during Fulton County's proclamation of Dikembe Mutombo Day, which had previously been announced as Tuesday.  Mutombo was honored by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners with an official proclamation.  Koonin, Head Coach Mike Budenholzer and members of the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation also spoke at the event.

Mutombo was selected as an All Star 4 times with the Hawks and won two Defensive Player of the Year awards with Atlanta.  He'll join Bob Pettit's #9, Lou Hudson's #23 and Dominique Wilkins' #21 as the only retired jerseys hanging in the rafters.

Mutombo is an NBA Global Ambassador.  The Democratic Republic of the Congo native lives in Fulton County.
