The Nuts & Bolts of the Atlanta Hawks' Schedule

The NBA released our 2016-17 schedule last week.  Here's what you need to know:

1)  Back-to-backs:

We play 18 sets of back-to-back games, tied for the most in the NBA.  Two of them do not require travel, as we’ll play both games at home in both occurrences.

2)  4-in-5:

We do not have a “4-games-in-5-nights” stretch this season.

3)  Weekend Home Games

20 of our 41 home games fall on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.  Make your plans to be with us!

4)  Lucky?

We may have caught a break with the four Eastern Conference teams we play just three times instead of four.  Toronto, Indiana, Boston and Detroit were all playoff teams last season, and most expect all four to again contend for a playoff spot this year.

5)  No MLK Day home game:

For the first time in nearly two decades, there will not be a game in Atlanta on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  We will be facing the Knicks in New York.

6)  Holiday Road Trips:

For two major holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we will be in the middle of road trips against Western Conference opponents.

7)  New Year’s Day:

We will have a home game on New Year’s Day.  We host the San Antonio Spurs at 6:00.

8)  March Homestand:

We open March with our longest homestand of the season - six games between March 1 and March 10.
