- The Hawks just keep adding to their list of early season accomplishments. The most important and most obvious is that they extended their winning streak to six games while staying undefeated at the Highlight Factory. Tonight they had solid contributions from a variety of sources while holding Dwyane Wade to just 15 points on 6-of-18 shooting. - After building a 17 point lead at halftime the Hawks stumbled out of the gate to start the third quarter as the Heat went on a 13-2 run and eventually cut the lead to just six points. For the second straight game Atlanta shot just 30 percent in the third quarter, and tonight they were also outrebounded 15-9 in the period. - Leading by seven as the fourth period began, the second unit provided a huge lift by limiting the Heat to just one point over the first 3:15 as they extended the lead to a much safer feeling 12 points. - Much has been made about Josh Smith's not taking 3-pointers this season, but J-Smoove has also shown more discipline with his interior shot selection. On a night when Miami was aggressively colapsing on Smith when he had the ball inside, Josh was able to kick to outside shooters. Twice in the fourth quarter (once to Marvin, and once to Joe) his passes led to 3-pointers that erased any thoughts the Heat had of mounting a late rally. - Smith's double-double partner, Al Horford, also continues to impress fans with his versatility. In past seasons Horford has had no problem starting the break with a few quick dribbles before kicking to a guard. This season he has looked smooth and under control leading the fast break down the entire floor. - Jon Cooper: Five Questions with Jeff Teague |
