- Apparently J-Smoove decided he didn't feel like another overtime at the Highlight Factory. He went ahead and took care of things in regulation.

- There were a lot of phases to tonight's game, with many storylines coming to the surface. The overall story was that the Hawks overcame a poor start and a poor shooting night from Joe, Jamal, Josh and Marvin to grind out a victory. BLOG: Atlanta's depth will make them dangerous in the playoffs.

- Atlanta fell behind 15-2 and was extremely cold from the field. "The Wingmen" can be credited for changing the momentum of the game, led by Mo Evans. Evans hit a pair of corner 3-pointers and a pair of dunks to lead the Hawks all the way back to tie the score at 26 midway through the second period.

- In the third period it became apparent that Johnson's outside shot was a little off tonight, but he showed great leadership by finding other ways to contribute. He took advantage lazy pass in the backcourt to get an easy basket and repeatedly passed out of double-teams to open teammates to record six assists in the quarter.

- After being out-rebounded 17-7 in the first quarter, the Hawks matched the Magic on the boards the rest of the way, led by Al Horford's 11 rebounds.

- The fourth quarter featured 17 fouls and 23 free throws. The Hawks were over the limit just three minutes into the quarter and the Magic weren't too far behind, putting Atlanta in the bonus with 5:30 to play.
