Two up with two to play. Any
Hawks win or Pacers loss seals the deal for Atlanta, setting
up a first round match-up with the Boston Celtics.
The Hawks can clinch on their
own with a win tomorrow night at Philips, but it's entirely
possible it won't come to that.
Tonight: Indiana at
Washington
Desired Outcome: Wizards in a walk.
Probable Outcome: The Pacers blew a golden
opportunity to close the gap with the Hawks with their home
loss to the Bobcats on Saturday, and now face a must-win
game tonight in Washington or it's all over. The Wizards are
rolling with the return of All-Star guard Gilbert Arenas,
but they may be without another All-Star as Caron Butler
missed Saturday's game against the Sixers with a bruised
knee. With their playoff bid all wrapped up, I imagine they
won't take any chances with him tonight, which gives Indiana
a sliver of hope. Though the game is in Washington, I'll say
the more desperate team wins tonight. Indy wins tonight, and
the Hawks clinch tomorrow night with a home win over
Orlando.
