After a wild first round that saw several trades, the Hawks ended up with the 16th and 17th picks in the first round, selecting Lucas Nogueira of Brazil and Dennis Schroder of Germany. They also attained Jared Cunningham, formerly of the Dallas Mavericks and Mike Muscala, formerly of Bucknell.

(b) Gasol was traded on draft night to the Vancouver (Memphis) Grizzlies, along with Brevin Knight and Lorenzen Wright, in exchange for Shareef Abdur-Rahim and the 27th pick in the draft
