MEMPHIS, December 29, 2011 - The Grizzlies requested waivers on forward/center Brian Skinner, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

Skinner (6-9, 255), who originally signed with Memphis on Dec. 10, appeared in one regular season game with the Grizzlies, logging four minutes on Dec. 26 at San Antonio.

The Houston Rockets are in the early stages of their post-Yao Ming era now that the former NBA All-Star from China has retired due to ongoing foot injuries. The Rockets have a new coach in Kevin McHale and are in the process of integrating a host of new faces to go with veterans like former Grizzly point guard Kyle Lowry, guard Kevin Martin, and forward Louis Scola. Point guard Goran Dragic was acquired in a trade last season with Phoenix, as was center Hasheem Thabeet, another former Grizzlies’ player.
