Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph host holiday shopping spree
MEMPHIS, Tennessee — Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph are teaming up with Target to provide a Holiday shopping experience to remember for 200 children who participate in Memphis Athletic Ministries’ (MAM) after-school programs and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Memphis (BGCM) on Thursday, Dec. 22 from 5-6 p.m. at the Target at Ridgeway Trace (5959 Poplar Ave.).
Gay and Randolph’s contributions – combined with donations from the Memphis Grizzlies, the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation, Target and the Hyde Family Foundation – enables the 200 families to participate and purchase needed household items, clothing and holiday gifts during the one-hour shopping spree. Each family that participates will receive a $180 gift card, thanks to the generosity of Gay, Randolph and the event’s partners.
Gay, now hosting his fourth Holiday shopping spree, and Randolph, hosting his second, will tip-off the night by talking to families about their childhood experiences and visiting with families throughout the evening. Memphis Athletic Ministries and the Boys & Girls Club are providing transportation for all 200 families.
MAM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that runs 15 neighborhood centers offering year-round community sports leagues and providing life-changing programs in a safe, nurturing place for urban, at risk kids ages 6-18 to receive the guidance and support they need during times they might otherwise be alone at home.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Memphis (BGCM) creates opportunities for children through after-school education. They serve more than 7,000 youth ages 6-18 each year by providing the fun experiences and critical guidance needed to build bright futures. Through a variety of academic and recreational programs, BGCM empowers members to make productive use of their time and wise decisions in their lives.
