Grizzlies Announce 2006-2007 Television Schedule

Memphis, Tennessee, October 4, 2006 — The Memphis Grizzlies today announced their television schedule for the 2006-07 NBA season. A total of 67 regular season games will be televised, including 50 games on FSN South, five games with local broadcast partner WMC-TV as well as two nationally televised contests. For the first time, 10 games will also be shown on SportSouth, the network formerly known as Turner South and a recent addition to the family of Fox Cable Networks.

FSN South’s coverage will tip-off with opening night on Wednesday, Nov. 1 vs. the New York Knicks. Each telecast on FSN and SportSouth will include a pre and post-game show hosted by Grizzlies play-by-play announcer Pete Pranica and analyst Sean Tuohy. Pranica and Tuohy join forces for television broadcasts for the first time after Tuohy spent the previous five seasons as color commentator for Grizzlies radio broadcasts. For Pranica, it marks his second full season of television play-by-play duties and third season with the Grizzlies overall.

SportSouth’s lineup will include an early season showdown with the Detroit Pistons on Nov. 4 and a pair of games against the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 11 and Apr. 3. Local broadcast partner WMC will again televise five games, including a contest against the defending NBA champion Miami Heat on Dec. 2 and games against San Antonio on Dec. 20, Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 9, Chicago on Jan. 13 and Detroit Mar. 3.

“We believe our fans will enjoy the broadcast team of Pete, Sean and Tony Luftman this season,” said Grizzlies Senior Vice President of Broadcast Randy Stephens. “Sean has been a valuable member of Grizzlies’ radio broadcasts for the past five seasons, and the opportunity to move him to television will bring his unique insight to viewers across the region.”

The Grizzlies’ 2006-07 schedule features two nationally-televised games, including the annual Martin Luther King Day game against the Phoenix Suns on Monday, Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. on TNT. ESPN will carry one game on Wednesday, Nov. 15 from Sacramento at 8 p.m. against the Kings.
