Memphis, Tennessee, February 8, 2006 – In recognition of the matchup between Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol and Raptors guard Jose Calderon, the Grizzlies are inviting all Spaniards, all 40,431,462 citizens of Spain, to come to FedExForum and help celebrate Hardwood Classics Night on Tuesday, Feb. 21 when the Grizzlies host the Toronto Raptors for Turn Back the Clock Night.
Turn Back the Clock Night is the second Hardwood Classics game this season. The Grizzlies will again wear the popular Memphis Pros jerseys, and fans looking for their own jersey should visit the Grizzlies Den Team Store at FedExForum.
Be one of the first 70 fans dressed in the most outrageous 70’s attire and receive free tickets to the game. Or, just show up in funkadelic 70’s gear and receive a voucher for a free ticket with purchase of an equal or great value to the Feb. 27th game vs. Washington. As part of Turn Back the Clock Night, the Grizzlies along with Pepsi & Time Warner have also lowered all ticket prices in the terrace level to $10 per seat. In addition, the Grizz are offering 16oz. sodas, 70’s hot dogs and popcorn boxes for $1 each.
From 70’s to overseas, our offer is as simple as uno, dos, tres…
Uno: Present a valid Spanish passport at the Grizzlies box office now through tip-off
Dos: Receive 2 free tickets, while supplies last.
Tres: Get to Memphis, the birthplace of Rock N’ Roll
“This is a great opportunity to see two players from Spain, and I’d love for all Spaniards to take advantage of the offer to come to Memphis and to the Grizzlies game,” said Gasol. “This is definitely something different and special, and I’m very thankful to the franchise for their continued support of me and my country.”
In addition to the tickets, our Spanish fans will receive a special Pau Gasol t-shirt, a free ‘caliente’ dinner courtesy of Neely’s Barbeque, and a special “Spain Night” hotel rate courtesy of the Marriott Hotel Downtown while supplies last.
“We believe this is the first time in NBA history that a team has invited an entire country to be their guest at a game,” said Grizzlies President of Business Operations Andy Dolich. “But, we saw the incredible following that Pau has in his home city of Barcelona when we played against his former FC Barcelona team in 2004, and this was a way for Pau and the Grizzlies to thank his fans for their continued support and commitment.”
Spanish citizens should call 901.888.HOOP for more information. All other Grizzlies fans can get their tickets at the FedExForum box office, online at grizzlies.com, all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 901.888.HOOP.
