Grizzlies dominate Las Vegas Summer League opener

Andrew Harrison scored a game-high 23 points as the Memphis Grizzlies dominated D-League Select, 99-79, in the Las Vegas Summer League opener for both teams Friday at Thomas and Mack Center.

The Grizzlies never trailed after going up, 5-4, early in the first quarter, opening a 52-30 halftime advantage before pushing the lead to as many as 33 points in the second half. Memphis thrived in the post, outrebounding D-League Select, 41-28, and outscoring it, 48-32, in the paint.

Harrison, a 2015 second-round pick for the Phoenix Suns, added four rebounds and four assists, going 12-for-12 from the free-throw line as the Grizzlies shot 28-for-33 from the foul line.

Wade Baldwin totaled 14 points, six rebounds, three assists and four steals, and Jonathan Holmes finished with 14 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Memphis (1-0).

Verdell Jones led D-League Select (0-1) with 12 points as the only starter in double figures. Tu Holloway and Jabril Trawick added 10 points each.

The Grizzlies play the Denver Nuggets Saturday. D-League Select plays the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. -- Joel Bartilotta via RotoWire
