Grizzlies cruise past 76ers, 101-83

The Grizzlies defeated the Philadelphia 76ers 101-83 at FedExForum on Saturday night improving Memphis’ record to 13-5 against Eastern Conference teams and its home record to 18-5.

Memphis enjoyed a second quarter in which they tied their highest scoring output for a second quarter this season with 33 points (Dec. 16 vs. Golden State). The successful period was largely spurred by Vince Carter and Zach Randolph. The pair combined to score 15 points on 7-of-13 (.538) shooting in the quarter. Carter notched his eighth game of 10-plus points this season and first since Dec. 26 vs. Houston.

Randolph (17 points, 14 rebounds) recorded his eighth double-double in as many efforts since his return from injury that saw him miss nine games due to a sore right knee. Randolph also put up his 14th straight 10-plus rebounding game to tie his career-best streak.

Jeff Green led the Grizzlies with 18 points on 6-of-11 (.545) shooting in his second start in six games with Memphis since being acquired in a Jan. 12 three-team trade. This is the second time Green has led the team in scoring since joining the Memphis squad (Jan. 16 at Orlando).

The Grizzlies outdueled Philadelphia under the basket putting up 52 points in the paint to the 76ers’ 32. Memphis also forced 24 Philadelphia turnovers and took advantage by scoring 17 points off their miscues.

Jerami Grant led all Philadelphia scorers with 16 points on 5-of-10 (.500) shooting and was a perfect 4-of-4 (1.000) from the charity stripe. Michael Carter-Williams added 10 points and six assists.

Memphis will round out its five-game homestand (in which they are 3-1 thus far) by taking on the Orlando Magic on Monday Jan. 26 at 7 p.m. (CT).
