Memphis artists Three 6 Mafia and Lil Rounds to join JabbaWockeez
MEMPHIS, October 23, 2009The Memphis Grizzlies Opening Night contest against the Detroit Pistons on October 28 at FedExForum will tip-off the 2009-10 season with pregame performances by Three 6 Mafia, MTV’s “America’s Best Dance Crew” winners the JabbaWockeez and American Idol finalist Lil Rounds. Opening Night, presented by First Tennessee, will also be the first ever “Beale Street Blue-Out” of FedExForum, as the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive Beale Street Blue T-Shirts presented by First Tennessee in honor of the new third alternate uniform that the Grizzlies will be wearing.
“Every night of the season we try to give fans a truly memorable basketball and entertainment experience, and Opening Night is the one game that sets the tone to do just that at the start of every season,” said Grizzlies President of Business Operations Greg Campbell. “From the excitement of our team taking the floor for the first time in their new alternate uniforms to the atmosphere that the diverse talents of Three 6 Mafia, the JabbaWockeez and Lil Rounds will bring to FedExForum, this will be a night that all of our fans decked out in Beale Street Blue will know that they are part of Grizz Nation.”
Three 6 Mafia, an Academy Award winning group originating from Memphis, will join forces with the world famous hip-hop dance group the JabbaWockeez for an unprecedented performance during Grizzlies player introductions. Prior to the event-filled player introductions, American Idol Top Ten finalist and fellow Memphian Lil Rounds will perform the National Anthem for the first time at FedExForum. The JabbaWockeez will also head back out to the floor to perform their stylized theatrics during half-time of the Grizzlies game.
Grizzlies Opening Night will also be the first ever “Beale Street Blue-Out” of FedExForum, and to assist in the “Blue-Out,” not only will the team wear their new alternate third uniform for the first time, but the first 10,000 fans in attendance will also receive a Beale Street Blue T-Shirt presented by First Tennessee.
Tickets for the Grizzlies Opening Night contest on Wednesday, October 28 against the new-look Detroit Pistons start at $5 and are still available.
