Grizzlies announce Opening Night Festivities for Home Opener

The Memphis Grizzlies will tip off their 2016-17 season tomorrow, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves for Opening Night. In addition to the return of Grizzlies basketball in Grind City, Grizzlies fans will have ample opportunities to celebrate their home team well before the opening tip. A limited number of tickets are still available to Opening Night and can be purchased at the FedExForum Box Office, all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com, online at grizzlies.com or by calling 1-800-4NBA-TIX.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early and enjoy the Opening Night Party on the Plaza and other indoor activities from 5-7 p.m. Outdoor festivities include face painting and balloon artists with Grizzline starting their performance on Beale Street and continuing the party on the FedExForum Plaza. The Grizzlies’ Mobile Merch truck by adidas will be parked on the Plaza, offering the latest in adidas Grizzlies gear. The Opening Night Pregame Party will conclude with a performance from Gary Goin (6-6:45 p.m.) on the outdoor plaza. Due to security measures in place that require the use of metal detectors, Grizzlies fans are encouraged to get to the game early to prevent any delays when entering the arena.

Inside the arena, the first 10,000 fans will receive a Grind City T-Shirt.  Once inside, fans will also be able to get a first-look at the new 2016-17 adidas gear and the official adidas Item of the Game – the Grizz Pixel Blast Cap for just $15.  The indoor concourses will also be filled with more interactive activities, including sign making, photos and temporary tattoos stations as well as the return of the popular Terrace Level DJ Dance Party. Fans can join mascot Grizz and the Grizz Girls, presented by Horseshoe Casino Tunica, for photos and autographs from 6-6:30 p.m.

Grizzlies fans will want to head to their seats well before tip-off as Memphis rap legends and pioneers of southern rap 8 Ball and MJG will be taking the court for an exciting pre-game performance during player introductions. Legendary Soul performer and Stax Artist William Bell will give a special halftime performance with the Hi Rhythm Section. Pregame and halftime entertainment was developed with the assistance of Grammy Award Winning producer Boo Mitchell of Royal Studios. Both Bell and the Hi Rhythm Section are slated to be inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame this year. In-game performances will also include appearances from fan favorites – mascot Grizz, the Grizz Girls, the Kings of the Court and Grizzline.
