Grizzlies unveil third alternate uniform for 2009-10 season

MEMPHIS, October 19, 2009— The Grizzlies have added a third alternate uniform for the 2009-10 season that the city of Memphis and basketball fans throughout the Mid-South can call their own, as part of Grizz Nation.

The new third alternate uniform has been developed over the past two years with the help of Grizzlies fans, the NBA and Grizzlies players, including Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo, who were a part of the design process from the first concept design to the final product. The base color of the uniform is Beale Street Blue, and the neon shimmer look was chosen by the design team to mirror the signs on Beale Street that give off the same vibrant glow. The intense shapes used on the uniform, including the Grizzlies’ Gold inlays, are inspired by the Grizzlies logo itself and the Egyptians from which the city’s name is derived.

“With our third alternate uniform we made a concentrated effort to design something that characterizes our continued connection to the city of Memphis and the people who call it home,” said Grizzlies President of Business Operations, Greg Campbell. “We feel that we have done just that and expect the new uniform to add the excitement of the upcoming season that includes the development of our young stars and the additions of Allen Iverson and Zach Randolph as we approach Opening Night on October 28.”

The uniform will debut for the first time in the regular season on Opening Night, when the team faces Detroit on October 28. Fans will have a chance to be a part of the movement, as the first 10,000 fans in attendance will receive free T-Shirts, courtesy of First Tennessee Bank, to create the first ever “Beale Street Blue Out” of FedExForum. Fans will also have a chance to see the uniform up close at FedExForum at the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Game against the Phoenix Suns on January 18.

Fans who would like to receive their own free replica of the alternate uniform can do so by purchasing Plaza Level Season Tickets or a Power Pack prior to the “Beale Street Blue-Out” on Opening Night, October 28. Current Season Ticket holders can purchase their very own alternate jersey prior to the public on sale October 28 by visiting the Grizzlies Den Team Store during store hours and showing their Grizzlies Season Ticket Holder MVP credential or card.
