MEMPHIS, March 12, 2009 — Before the Memphis Grizzlies hold their Grizzlies Go Green Game on Friday, April 3, they are offering fans the chance to come to the game in an environmentally safe manner by hosting the “Tour De Grizz” that aims to help raise awareness about the use of sustainable transportation.
Grizzlies fans and cycling enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes will have the opportunity to enjoy the nearly five mile route that starts at 6:00 p.m. at 1000 South Cooper, home of Revolutions Bicycle Co-Op, and culminates prior to game-time on Beale Street in front of FedExForum. After the riders have reached their basketball destination their ride ticket ensures them of “Bike Valet Parking” inside the Grand Lobby of FedExForum.
Once inside, the group will experience the Grizzlies Go Green Game, presented by International Paper and Waste Management. The Grizzlies have planned a Green Expo on the Plaza Level that will include various interactive activities. During the game the Grizzlies will also focus on the importance of being environmentally conscious through in-game tips and other promotions.
Following the game the riders will leave FedExForum approximately 15 minutes after the final buzzer. Both routes to and from FedExForum for the “Tour De Grizz” will be accompanied by multiple Memphis Police bike patrol officers and squad cars to ensure the safety of the participants.
Tickets to take part in the “Tour De Grizz,” which also include entry to the Grizzlies contest that night against the Dallas Mavericks, start as low as $10.
