Grizzlies offer prizes to fans who grow beards during Playoff push
MEMPHIS - March 9, 2011 As they enter the stretch run of the 2010-11 season, the Memphis Grizzlies players, coaches and staff are growing beards as a nod to a time-honored sports tradition called the “playoff beard.” The Grizzlies organization wants all of the members of Grizz Nation to join in on the fun and are offering special prizes to those who decide to join their heroes of the hardwood and sport a beard as the team makes its playoff push.
Starting today, fans are encouraged to take the pledge and post their best Playoff Beard picture on the Grizzlies Facebook page (facebook.com/memphisgrizzlies) to be entered to win a free pair of tickets to every 2011 Grizzlies home playoff game. Those fans who are unable to grow a beard are still eligible to take part bydownloading and printing the official Grizzlies Playoff Beard or by getting creative and making their own. Beards of all shapes, sizes and colors are encouraged.
“Thanks to the leadership of our Head Coach Lionel Hollins our team has a winning chemistry on and off the floor, so it doesn’t surprise me that they decided that they wanted to grow beards as a group as we enter into a playoff push,” said Greg Campbell, Grizzlies President of Business Operations. “By asking our fans to participate we want them to be able to experience and be a part of what we feel will be a very exciting spring.”
