Grizzlies welcome Draft picks to Memphis

Draft picks get acquainted with the city, local media and Grizzlies Season Ticket Holders.

Grizzlies Majority Owner Michael Heisley, Grizzlies GM/VP of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace and Head Coach Lionel Hollins introduced newly-acquired Grizzlies center Hasheem Thabeet (2nd), forward DeMarre Carroll (27th) and swingman Sam Young (36th) to local media and Grizzlies Season Ticket Holders on Friday, June 26 at FedExForum.

It won’t take long for the Grizzlies new draft picks to get acquainted to the city of Memphis, as Hasheem Thabeet, DeMarre Carroll and Sam Young visit the Goodwill Boys and Girls Club at 990 College Park today and then head to AutoZone Park at 6 p.m. to sign autographs and throw out the first pitch prior to the Redbirds game.

Thabeet, Carroll and Young took part in the grand opening of the sixth Grizzlies Reading and Learning Center presented by Hilton at the Boys and Girls Club earlier today. The new Grizzlies enjoyed time playing games with kids and talking to them about how they can achieve their own dreams just like they were able to last night when they were drafted.

The draftees will then head to AutoZone Park to sign autographs and meet with Grizzlies and Redbirds fans at 6 p.m. Each of the new Grizzlies will then have the honor of throwing out the first pitch of the Redbirds contest against the Omaha Royals prior to game-time, which will be approximately at 7 p.m.
