Grizzlies tip-off 2014 Walking Challenge
Month-long challenge begins with One Mile Walk at Saint Francis Hospital on Tuesday, March 4 at Noon
MEMPHIS, March 3, 2014 – The Memphis Grizzlies’ 2014 Walking Challenge, presented by Saint Francis Healthcare, challenges Grizz Nation to spring into action for the month of March by walking 20 miles. Through various walking events presented by the Grizzlies, challenge participants can log their walking times and track their progress for a chance to win exclusive prizes including two tickets to see the highly-anticipated Miami Heat vs. Memphis Grizzlies game on Tuesday, April 9. The ticket package also includes the chance to sit courtside for pregame shootaround.
Every step counts in this month-long challenge, but in just three easy steps challenge participants can track their miles to become eligible for the prize packs. (1) Walk 20 miles during the month of March. (2) Participants must track their progress on a personal device or with the Memphis Grizzlies 2014 Walking Challenge Log, available for download at Grizzlies.com. (3) Participants must submit their information to Daniel Peterson at email@example.com.
Challenge participants can walk alone, or at one of the three group walks presented by the Grizzlies. The challenge tips off on Tuesday, March 4 at Noon with a mile-long group walk with the Grizz Girls and the Grizzlies Grannies and Grandpas at Saint Francis Hospital (5959 Park Ave.)
Walkers can knock off another mile on Saturday, March 8 at 4 p.m. at the Memphis Grizzlies Dribble Parade. The mile-long loop starts at the corner of 4th Street and Beale and finishes at the FedExForum Plaza. Other free walks include the Best Buddies Friendship Walk on Sunday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Ducks Unlimited (One Waterfowl Way, Memphis TN 38120) with the 2014 Walking Challenge finale event taking place on Sunday, March 30 with a one mile loop around FedExForum.
For participants who want to go the distance, co-event sponsor Memphis Health + Fitness Magazine will raffle two tickets to Jillian Michaels’ “Maximize Your Life” tour at the Orpheum Theater on March 14. The tickets and a photo opportunity with Michaels will be raffled to individuals who complete 10 miles before March 14.
