Grizzlies to compete in 2014 Orlando Pro Summer League

Grizzlies one of 10 teams to participate in seven-day event from July 5-11

The Memphis Grizzlies will be among the 10 teams competing in the 2014 Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League, hosted by the Orlando Magic, at the practice court at the Amway Center from July 5-11, it was announced today. 

The field for the event also features the Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers. 

All 10 teams will play five games over seven days with a championship day being played on the final day of the league.  A point system will establish the standings leading up to the final day, with eight points awarded each game – four points for winning the game and one point for winning a quarter (in the event of a tie, each team will receive 0.5 points).  In the event of ties in seeding heading into the championship day, three tiebreakers will be in place: 1) total point differential; 2) total points allowed; and 3) coin flip.

Memphis’ summer league slate includes games on Saturday, July 5 vs. Miami, Sunday, July 6 vs. Detroit, Tuesday, July 8 vs. Orlando and Thursday, July 10 vs. Houston before playing in the championship day on Friday, July 11. 

The Grizzlies’ full summer league roster will be announced at a later date.

NBA TV will televise the Southwest Airlines Orlando Pro Summer League games with a completel schedule of games and broadcast information to be released at a later date.  Additionally, fans will once again be able to watch every game live on and on the NBA Game Time app.
