Grizzlies announce 'Made in Memphis' Fan T-Shirt Contest

MEMPHIS, February 6, 2013 — The Memphis Grizzlies are giving Grizz Nation a chance to show off their creativity and city pride, as the Grizzlies will select fan art to produce special “Made In Memphis” T-shirts to be given to the first 5,000 in attendance on Friday, Feb. 22 against the Orlando Magic. The team will hold a second t-shirt design contest for giveaway t-shirt on Wednesday, March 20 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Fans can begin submitting their art as early as Thursday, Feb. 7 at Grizzlies.com. Entrants are invited to submit original artwork, such as a drawing, cartoon, painting or photograph that best captures the Memphis Grizzlies ‘Made In Memphis’ tagline. Designs must be the entrant’s original creation and may not depict or name any NBA players, legends, coaches, personnel or branding other than Grizzlies. The contest is open to residents of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas, age 13 and older, residing within 75 miles of FedExForum. Minors must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian. The contest winner will receive two courtside level tickets to the Feb. 22 game against Orlando. Enter now.

Also, on Friday, Feb. 22 the Grizzlies will also celebrate their 11th Annual Gospel Night with Grammy award-winning gospel music artist, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, who is set to perform a free post-game concert following the Grizzlies matchup with Orlando. Often called the “Father of Gospel Hip-Hop,” Bishop Walker is known for his smash-hits “Souled Out,” “Wonderful Is Your Name” and “Grateful.” Fans are encouraged to come out and enjoy a joyous night of basketball and music.

Other upcoming promotional items include sets of Grizzlies Valentine’s Day Cards, provided by Mercury Printing, for that special Grizzlies fan to the first 5,000 in attendance on Friday, Feb. 8 against the Golden State Warriors.

Beloved mascot Grizz will be joined by some of his furry friends from around the league for Grizz’s Birthday Party on Sunday, Feb. 10 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the team will celebrate by passing out Grizzlies backpacks to the first 5,000 fans. Grizz will also be treating the first 3,000 fans in attendance to a Grizz bobble head on Saturday, March 9 against the New Orleans Hornets.

Grizzlies’ fans will once again have a chance to wave their team’s colors if they are one of the first 10,000 in attendance to grab a rally flag on March 23 against the Boston Celtics, presented by SportSouth. The team will also distribute a series of player cards presented by Mercury Printing to the first 5,000 fans on Friday, March 29 against the Houston Rockets. 

The Grizzlies Go Green Expo and Tour de Grizz bike ride will highlight the team’s April 13 tilt with the Los Angeles Clippers before the giveaway schedule concludes with a Grizzlies T-shirt, presented by First Tennessee, to the first 5,000 fans in attendance for Fan Appreciation Night on April 17 against the Utah Jazz, as the team wraps up the regular season.

In addition to the aforementioned promotional nights, Charles Vergos’ Rendezvous, are excited to introduce their cheese and sausage plates to the menus at FedExForum. They will begin serving the new items at the Rendezvous stands located on the Plaza and Club Level.

“This has been the signature appetizer at our restaurant for 60 years,“ stated John Vergos, one of the owners of Charlie Vergos’ Rendezvous. “Our smoked sausage is sprinkled with our unique Rendezvous seasoning and served with cheddar cheese, dill pickles, and crackers.”
