Grizzlies assign Wade Baldwin IV and Troy Williams to Iowa Energy
MEMPHIS – Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace today announced the team has assigned guard Wade Baldwin IV and forward Troy Williams to the Iowa Energy, the Grizzlies’ NBA Development League affiliate.
Baldwin (6-4, 202) has appeared in 23 games (one start) for the Grizzlies during his rookie season and averaged 3.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 13.2 minutes. The 20-year-old has competed in six games (all starts) for the Energy and recorded 15.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 27.0 minutes. A native of Belle Mead, N.J., Baldwin was drafted by Memphis in the first round (17th overall) of the 2016 NBA Draft following his sophomore season at Vanderbilt University.
Williams (6-7, 218) has appeared in 24 games (13 starts) as a rookie for the Grizzlies and averaged 5.3 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.00 steals in 17.4 minutes. The 22-year-old has played three games (one start) for the Energy and posted 24.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.67 steals in 27.8 minutes, including a season-high 32 points in his D-League debut on Dec. 27 vs. Rio Grande Valley. Unselected in the 2016 NBA Draft following his junior season at Indiana University, the Hampton, Va. native currently leads all undrafted NBA rookies in steals per game.
