Grizzlies add five players to Training Camp roster

Veterans Davis, Moore, Reiner, Sharpe, Skinner add size, experience to Grizzlies.

MEMPHIS, December 10, 2011 – The Memphis Grizzlies signed free agents Josh Davis, Mikki Moore, Jared Reiner, Walter Sharpe and Brian Skinner, collectively adding 31 seasons of NBA experience to the roster, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

Davis, a 6-8, 235-pound forward, returns to Memphis after a stint on the 2010 Grizzlies training camp roster.  The University of Wyoming product holds NBA career averages of 2.5 points and 1.7 rebounds in 52 games (six starts) over three seasons (2003-06) with the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns.  The 31-year-old, who was named the 2003-04 Continental Basketball Association MVP as a member of the Idaho Stampede, has also played for Sicc Jessi (Italy), Dynamo Moscow (Russia), Kyiv (Ukraine), Colorado 14ers (D-League), Cangrejeros de Santurce (Puerto Rico), Panellenios (Greece) and Bancatercas Teramo (Italy).

Moore, a 6-11, 225-pound center, joins the Grizzlies with NBA career averages of 5.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 557 games (181 starts) over a 12-year career (1998-2010) with the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics, Atlanta Hawks, New Jersey Nets, Utah Jazz, Los Angeles Clippers, Seattle SuperSonics, Sacramento Kings and, most recently, Golden State Warriors.  During the 2006-07 season, the 36-year-old University of Nebraska product averaged a career-high 9.8 points for the Nets while leading the league in field goal percentage (.607).

Reiner, a 6-11, 255-pound center, spent last season with BBC Bayreuth in Germany, where he recorded 12.6 points and 7.8 rebounds.  The 29-year-old holds NBA career averages of 1.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 46 games (four starts) over two seasons with the Chicago Bulls (2004-05) and Milwaukee Bucks (2006-07).  The University of Iowa product has also spent time with the Sioux Falls Skyforce (D-League), Polaris World Murcia (Spain), Brose Baskets (Germany), Eisbären Bremerhaven (Germany), Fort Wayne Mad Ants (D-League) and Gallitos de Isabela (Puerto Rico).

Sharpe, a 6-9, 245-pound forward, averaged 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in the D-League last season, splitting 45 games (20 starts) between the Idaho Stampede, Dakota Wizards and New Mexico Thunderbirds.  Selected by the Detroit Pistons in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, the University of Alabama-Birmingham product averaged 1.0 points in eight games with Detroit during the 2008-09 season.  The 25-year-old also saw time with the D-League’s Fort Wayne Mad Ants as an NBA rookie.

Skinner, a 6-9, 255-pound forward/center, joins the Grizzlies with NBA career averages of 4.7 points and 4.7 rebounds in 607 games (197 starts) over a 13-year career (1998-2011) with the Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Phoenix Suns.  The 35-year-old, who was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) of the 1998 NBA Draft out of Baylor University, made two appearances last season for the Bucks in what was his third stint in Milwaukee.

An updated training camp roster is attached.  The Grizzlies continue training camp tomorrow with two-a-day practices at the Coventry Health Care Practice Facility at FedExForum.  The final portion of the morning practices will be available to the media only. Media should arrive by 11:30am.
