- Memphis worked inside and nearly doubled its opponent’s free throw attempts (25-to-13)… The Grizzlies converted 22 of their 25 attempts (.880) compared to Jazz’ nine makes on 13 attempts (.692).

- After Al Jefferson tied the game at 61 with 4:25 remaining in the third quarter, the Grizzlies rattled off eight straight points and never trailed for the remainder of the game
Player Notes
- Zach Randolph recorded 16 points and 18 rebounds (nine offensive) tonight to push his seasonal rebounding average up to 16.0 through the first three games… Randolph entered the game ranked second in the league in rebounding.
- Marc Gasol finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and eight assists to go with perfect shooting (10-of-10 FT) from the free throw line… Gasol has recorded at least 20 points, five rebounds and five assists in all three games this season.
- Quincy Pondexter scored a season-high 14 points (5-of-8 FG) in a season-high 23 minutes off the bench.
- Rudy Gay led all scorers with 27 points, including 16 in the first half… Gay led Memphis in scoring last season (19.0 points).
Zach Randolph's double-double (16 points, 18 rebounds) led the Grizzlies over the Jazz 103-94 at FedExForum on Monday. Marc Gasol led the team with 22 points and Mike Conley scored 16. Next, Memphis travels to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks Wednesday at 8 p.m.

- The Grizzlies set a franchise record with their 12th consecutive regular season home victory, carried over from the 2011-12 season… The team’s last home loss came on March 16, 2012 vs. Toronto in overtime… Memphis’ last home loss in regulation was on Feb. 12, 2012 against Utah.
- Memphis recorded its first home-opening win since the 2008-09 season (Oct. 31, 2008) against the Orlando Magic… The Grizzlies improved their home opener record to 4-14 all-time.
- Memphis held Utah to only 18 points in the third quarter… Entering tonight, the Jazz were averaging 31.3 points in the third quarter (through three games).
- The Grizzlies outrebounded the Jazz 51-42 tonight, led by Zach Randolph’s game-high 18 boards (nine offensive and nine defensive).
- The Jazz had seven players finish the game in double-digits… The last time a Grizzlies opponent finished with seven-or-more players scoring 10-plus points was Feb. 15, 2012 at New Jersey.

On overall performance:
“We started the game really slow. We were taking too many jump shots. They were getting the ball in the paint, they were cutting, getting wide open shots. We went with the bench and they did an outstanding job of playing with more intensity and got us going. When we came back with the other unit, they played with more intensity. In the second half we really ramped it up. We outscored them 27-18 in the third quarter, 56-44 in the second half. We really got on our game, everybody started doing what they do. I thought Tony Allen on Gordon Hayward in the second half was outstanding . He had 13 points in the first half, finished with 19 so he only had six. Mo Williams with Mike Conley did an outstanding job in the second half of closing him down and not just letting him have wide open shots, making him put the ball on the floor, making him drive. Offensively we started sharing the ball better. Marc Gasol was big, Zach Randolph on the glass was big. He’s had an outstanding start to the season. I thought our bench played really well.”
On Quincy Pondexter:
“I think Quincy has always understood his role. I just think you’ve got to play well, you’ve got to improve your skill level. He was just a young player last year coming in, gets traded, trying to figure his way out in a new city and a new system. I thought he came back this year a lot more confident.”
On Marc Gasol’s performance:
“We’re a team. One night it’s one guy, another night it’s another guy. We just feed off of whoever has it going. We had five guys in double figures tonight. Tony Allen was almost in double figures. We’re just trying to score as a team to win, it doesn’t really matter who does it.”
On Utah’s gameplan:
“They were trying to find an option. We started eliminating some of their offense and they started trying to post up guys. We did a good job on Al Jefferson and Paul Millsap wasn’t really doing what he normally does on the inside. What happened was they tried to get a mismatch by putting him at the three and playing really big and trying to cut off what we were doing on the inside with the bigger people in. I thought Rudy Gay did a good job on him and he wasn’t a real factor tonight.”
Zach Randolph
On playing home opener:
“We were amped up, especially myself. We were amped up for the home opener in front of your crowd. We wanted to come out and do well. Some guys had too much energy like me.“
On playing in front of new Grizzlies Chairman Robert Pera:
“I hope we made a good impression. We worked hard and that is all you can ask for.”
On initial reaction:
“He is a great young guy. He just wants to win. He loves the game. He is excited about it. That is what we want. That is exciting of course to have an owner that is exciting and young. He wants to win and that is what we want to do.. He wants to keep it in tune around here, so have a good group of guys and a good team. It is a win-win situation.”
On tonight’s difference maker:
“Just our defense and coming out getting stops. That is a good team. That got on from the start. They came out and played hard. They got down in transition early, but we fought back in the second half getting stops and moving the ball in the paint.”
On bench players making a difference:
“That is what we need and that is going to help us in the game. When you have a strong defense that is what you need. Quincy [Pondexter] came in tonight and had a good game, and other guys contributed. As we progress, and go on to other guys, everybody is going to continue to get better, including myself. Right now, I am not making a lot of shots, and I usually hit around the basket. So my jump shot is off. As I continue to go on and play games, things will get better. We have a little stuff to do on defense, rebounds, get up on pick and roll and do other stuff on the court.”
