Key Stat of the Night

  • Trailing time after three quarters for the first this season (69-62), the Grizzlies went on to outscore the Cavaliers 22-9 in the fourth quarter… Memphis limited Cleveland to .200 shooting (4-of-20 FG) and forced six turnovers to just one assists in the final frame.

 

Key Run of the Night

  • Trailing by six points (74-68) with 8:26 left in the fourth quarter, Memphis closed the game on a 16-4 run… Jerryd Bayless scored six of his nine points during that span, including two free throws with 13.8 seconds remaining to provide the final score.

 

Player Notes

  • Zach Randolph finished with 19 points and eight rebounds, snapping his 11-game double-double streak to start the season.
  • Marc Gasol scored 19 points, six rebounds and three assists.
  • In his first start for the Grizzlies, Jerryd Bayless finished with nine points and six assists along with two blocks... Bayless recorded six of his nine points in the final eight-and-a-half minutes of the fourth quarter.
  • Quincy Pondexter made all three of his shot attempts to score seven of his 10 points in the final quarter… It marked his third 10-plus scoring effort of the season.

Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph scored 19 points each Monday, when the Grizzlies needed a super fourth quarter to hold off the visiting Cavs for the win. Mike Conley missed the game with flu-like symptoms, but Rudy Gay added 15 points and Memphis outscored Cleveland 22-9 in the final period.

  • Memphis extended the hottest start in team history and improved to an NBA-best 10-2 record.
  • Mike Conley missed his first game of the season… In his absence, Memphis recorded just 16 assists, one more than the team’s season low for assists (15 on Nov. 16 vs. New York).
  • The Grizzlies were outrebounded by their opponent for (41-33) the fifth time this season but still hold a 4-1 record in those games… Memphis’ 33 team rebounds ties a season low (33 on Nov. 19 vs. Denver).
  • Tony Allen made two free throws with 2:49 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the Grizzlies a two-point advantage (78-76)… It marked Memphis’ first lead since 2:10 left in the first quarter (21-10).
