Coach Hollins

On the game:

“We started off with a real good rhythm but we weren’t playing our style and our pace and our tempo and no matter how well we we’re playing offensively they were scoring. When we stopped scoring they got the lead and we had to play from behind the rest of the game. We gave up 17 offensive rebounds and we did not get to the free throw line tonight. When you’ve got the greatest point guard in the game today playing, penetrating and creating and you can shoot, you’ll get open shots and if you make them then you’ll look really good.”

Rudy Gay

On the game:

“They started hitting shots, they got out on the fast break and basically just scored of our mistakes; we made a lot of them so they had a lot of chances to score. When we’re up and attacking like that on the defensive end we’re better on the offensive end. But we didn’t have a good defensive night, not sure what happened tonight.
(On end of game shooting) In a perfect world we want all those shots to go in but it shouldn’t have come down to that. That’s just how it is, basketball isn’t like that. The ball doesn’t always go in when you’re down, you have to keep fighting from behind and you’ve got to establish yourself.”

Mike Conley

On the game:

“They started making shots in that second quarter and they started getting into their flow. I think we played at their pace a little bit too much in the second quarter and in the second half and they were able to control the tempo and beat us down the court. We’re a defensive team and we play scrappy and try to get onto the loose balls and get into transition and when we’re playing our game we’re a good team but after a while they started taking care of the ball and guys were making wide open shots and I think we gambled a few times and left a couple of guys open and knocked down some big shots.”
