Tony Allen and Zach Randolph host holiday shopping spree

On Monday, December 10, 2012, Tony Allen and Zach Randolph teamed up to provide a Holiday shopping experience to remember for 200 Memphis-area children who participate in surrounding Boys & Girls Clubs.

Allen and Randolph’s contributions – combined with donations from the Memphis Grizzlies and the Memphis Grizzlies Charitable Foundation – enabled the children to participate and purchase needed household items, clothing and holiday gifts during the one-hour shopping spree. Each child that participated received a $100 gift card, thanks to the generosity of Allen, Randolph and the event’s partners.

This is the third Holiday shopping spree Randolph has hosted this season. The event was a first for Allen this season. He tipped-off the night by talking to the children about their childhood experiences and visiting with them throughout the evening. The Boys & Girls Club provided transportation for the participants.

This event is part of the Memphis Grizzlies Season of Giving, which includes Grizzlies players, coaches, family members and staff teaming with community partners to make a difference in the lives of children and families by hosting several charitable events throughout November and December.

The Memphis-area Boys & Girls Clubs creates opportunities for children through after-school education. They serve more than 7,000 youth ages 6-18 each year by providing the fun experiences and critical guidance needed to build bright futures. Through a variety of academic and recreational programs, the Boys & Girls Clubs empowers members to make productive use of their time and wise decisions in their lives.
