Grizzlies and Red Cross team up to assist tornado victims in Oklahoma

MEMPHIS, May 22, 2013 – The Memphis Grizzlies, Grizzlies guard Tony Allen and the American Red Cross are teaming up to come to the aid of tornado victims in the surrounding Oklahoma City area.

The Red Cross and the Memphis Grizzlies will collect donations for those affected by the devastating tornadoes that hit Oklahoma at Game 3 (Saturday, May 25, 8 p.m.) and Game 4 (Monday, May 27, 8:00 p.m.) of the Western Conference Finals vs. the San Antonio Spurs at FedExForum.

Red Cross volunteers will be collecting cash donations at all doors on all levels of FedExForum. In addition, Allen has agreed to match fans’ donations from both games to support relief efforts.

The Grizzlies will also support the American Red Cross tornado relief efforts on radio broadcasts, digital, social media and all in-game promotions.

“Having attended college in Oklahoma, I am saddened to see what the state is going through after the devastating tornadoes,” said Allen. “My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families that have been affected. I am glad to help in any way that I can, and encourage everyone to do their part and help the victims in Oklahoma in any way possible.”

“Our hearts go out to all the tornado victims in Oklahoma, and the Grizzlies are committed to helping in any way that we can,” said Jason Levien, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of the Memphis Grizzlies. “We are happy to team up with the Red Cross and support them in their relief efforts and hope that the money that we collect for Games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals will help the victims of Oklahoma recover from this disaster.”
