“Don was truly one of the most genuinely optimistic people you’ll ever meet. No matter how bad we were, he always had good things to say about us, and it took a genuinely optimistic person to do that. We’ll miss him a lot, but I think everyone in the organization knows that he’ll always be the voice of the Grizzlies.”

“He was one of the best announcers I had ever heard. He had a love for what he did. He was with this team from the very beginning here in Memphis, and even before that, and he always cared about what we did. He was a big part of our franchise, and he will be missed.”

“He was a very important part of our family. To lose someone of that magnitude is a big loss. He was a big ingredient of our family. I only first met him last year, but he was a great guy. From the first day I got here he embraced me and my family, so this is going to be tough.”

“Don was the type of guy who always had a positive attitude. He was always friendly. If he ever saw that you were having a bad day, he’d come over and encourage you, ask about your family, just a caring person.”

“Don was always a great person, he and I always had fun when he was interviewing me. He was 100% dedicated to his job, and he was great at it. It was always fun to be around him. Everything I did with him, he was always very human, and down to earth. He had a passion for his job, the community and this team. He was very close to the team. I admired him a lot. He was a great communicator, a great announcer and a great person. I had a good time with him, I’m going to miss him.”

“I’ll always remember hearing his voice in the background during our games, including when I was in Vancouver with him. It was always fun hearing his voice during our games or when I was playing video games. It’s going to be hard not hearing his voice, I send my prayers to his family.”
