Lady Bears

The Lady Bears work with the Grizzlies Community Investment and Basketball Operations Departments to support outreach initiatives throughout the Mid-South community. Members are comprised of women who play a significant role in the lives of Grizzlies players, coaches, basketball operations and ownership staff.

The Lady Bears’ first event was held at the Salvation Army’s Purdue Center of Hope in November. The ladies, along with head coach Lionel Hollins, assistant coach Damon Stoudamire, and Marc Gasol, served Thanksgiving dinner to homeless women and children. The Lady Bears also provided the children with backpacks, hats and gloves. Full story with photos and video

In February, the group held a teddy bears and diapers drive, collecting just under 200 teddy bears and over 3000 diapers, in addition to cash donations. Members of the Lady Bears visited patients at Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center to deliver the teddy bears and donated the diapers to Porter-Leath. Full story with photos

The Lady Bears also took part in various community activities including, Ladies Night at the Grizzlies game, helping tip-off MLGW’s downtown Heart Walk series, and reading with students as part of the Grizzlies Read to Achieve Program.
