Parker Potent at the Point

After being sidelined with a heel injury for nearly a month,
Tony Parker appears to be back at full strength. On Sunday night the Spurs faced the Nets at the Meadowlands and the Frenchman faced a familiar foe, former Maverick turned Net
Devin Harris. Parker proved to be too much to handle for Harris and the entire Nets squad as he neared a triple double with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the Spurs 93-83 victory, which marked their ninth consecutive win. To complete the notable performance, Parker nailed two clutch baskets down the stretch. After the game coach Gregg Popovich told the
AP, "Tony Parker was really great running the team, changing up between shooting jumpers, getting to the bucket and distributing the ball. He did a fine job in that regard."

2. Houston Stays Afloat
Yao Ming might be out but Houston refuses to go down. On Sunday night the Rockets captured their 15th straight win and third consecutive win without the 7-6 star center. To help pick up some of the slack,
Luis Scola registered 18 points and a career-high 14 rebounds en route to the team's 103-89 victory. The game matched a franchise record for consecutive wins but more importantly it was a display of the Rockets ability to compete without The Ming Dynasty in uniform. Team leader
Tracy McGrady explained to the
Houston Chronicle, "We know how good we are and we're showing it."

3. Manu Helps End Curse
Could the curse finally be broken? The Spurs had not won at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee since December 2004 until Saturday night when San Antonio defeated the Bucks 96-94. The Spurs were paced by
Manu Ginobili who registered his 10th 30-point performance. Accustomed to coming through in the clutch, with 13.2 seconds left Manu nailed a 17-footer to put San Antonio ahead by two. Coach Gregg Popovich explained to the
AP, "He's a big-time competitor. He has really pulled us along for the last month and a half. He has made a lot of big shots in a lot of big games all around the world. He likes that stage.'' In addition to the threat he poses with his impressive shooting abilities, he also demonstrated his deft passing skills as he found All-Star
Tim Duncan for the first basket of the night. He received the Assist of the Night Honor for the feed.

4.Hedo Leads the Magic
When the Magic faced the Raptors on Tuesday night, they took full advantage of the Bosh-less squad. While All-Star
Dwight Howard did not have his best showing as he got off to a slow start, power forward
Hedo Turkoglu shined in the 102-87 home victory. The Turkey-native registered a game-high 24 points and eight dimes along with seven rebounds. As he led the game in minutes played (40:09), Turkoglu proved he can carry the squad on his back when necessary.
Fox Sports writer, Charley Rosen considers Turkoglu a point-power-forward because he is so well-rounded. With 29 touches and 42 passes on the night, Rosen said on Turkoglu's behalf, "It's really Hedo Turkoglu (and not Dwight Howard) who is the Magic's prime mover."

5. Deng Helps Bulls Recharge
After an debacle against the Wizards, the Bulls returned to Chicago with the desire to reclaim their dignity. On Tuesday night the Grizzlies returned to Chi-Town, and the entire team joined forced to make the fans proud. They succeeded as they handed Memphis their ninth consecutive loss with a 112-97 victory. While the Bulls achieved balance scoring with five players scoring in double-digits, interim coach Jim Boylan singled out
Luol Deng who tied the team-high 21 points to go along with his nine boards and five dimes. Boylan told the
Chicago Sun-Times, "I thought his defense was aggressive and that brought him over to the offensive side." With several new additions to the squad the victory reflected the team's progress in the adaptation process.

6. Spurs Handle New Jersey….Again
Poor New Jersey, after losing to the Spurs 93-83 on Sunday, the Nets had to suffer all over again. On Tuesday in San Antonio the former Champs overpowered New Jersey again with an 81-70 victory. While the Spurs only shot 33.8 percent from the field,
Tim Duncan provided evidence for the argument that he is the best power forward in the league. With his game-high 29 points and 12 rebounds, he captured his 37th double-double of the season. He clearly compensated for his team's offensive woes. Appreciative that the Virgin Islands native sports Spurs threads, San Antonio's coach Gregg Poppovich told the
San Antonio Express-News, "If Tim Duncan didn't play the way he played tonight a whole lot of people would have wasted a whole lot of money. He was special, and he got it done for us."

7. Stojakovic Deadly From Downtown
Deadly from three-point range,
Peja Stojakovic frustrated the Atlanta Hawks as he drained 7-of-11 from beyond the arc on Wednesday. On the night the Serbia-native logged a game-high 29 points to go along with nine rebounds and four dimes. As a team the Hornets tied a franchise record with 15 treys en route to their 116-101 victory over the Hawks. So, how crucial was the 6-10 forward's three-point scoring barrage to the win? Teammate
Chris Paul told
HOOPSWORLD , "It's devastating to a team when you hit threes like that. It's a huge boost when you're making them but when the other team is making them on you it makes it tough to stay in a game."

8. Nesterovic Steps Up for Toronto
Chris Bosh saw his team take care of business Wednesday night while he remained sidelined with a knee injury. Toronto took on the Miami Heat at the American Airlines Arena. An unusual suspect guided the Raptors to a 108-83 triumph.
Rasho Nesterovic is currently averaging 4.6 points in 16.1 minutes but he had a season-high 16 points (tied) and 10 rebounds to lead the Raptors to the road win. While Toronto dropped the first two games the Raptors played without Bosh, the Slovenia-native told the
London Free Press after the win over Miami, "We're a good team with or without Chris. We're obviously much better with Chris but we are a good team and if we just play our defense like a team, not one on one and in offense, create our open shots we will be in good shape."
