The NBA returns to Puerto Rico tomorrow with a marquee matchup between the Miami Heat and the Memphis Grizzlies (8:30 p.m. ET, NBA TV) in San Juan. The game itself, however, is only part of the overall experience.

Community outreach activities for NBA Puerto Rico 2005 include the “Es Tu Cancha” Court Refurbishment, which takes place today in Shangai. “Es tu Cancha” is a program that focuses on improving and renovating basketball courts in Hispanic neighborhoods throughout the country, and was developed to address the demand for safe and attractive recreation areas for children to use.

On Wednesday, a Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA clinic was conducted in conjunction with the Puerto Rico Department of Sports and Recreation at Coliseito Pedrin Zorrilla. That same day, players, coaches, dancers and the Xtreme Team, visited the oncology division of San Jorge Children's Hospital.

This is the 22nd game organized by the NBA in Latin America since 1992, and the fifth preseason game staged in Puerto Rico. The NBA’s last game in Puerto Rico was played on Oct. 7, 2003, when the Heat defeated the 76ers 86-79 in overtime at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
