They day began with the first of the daily Life-Skills seminars held in the presence of David Lee of the New York Knicks and Russell Turner of the Golden State Warriors. Zoran Radovic of FIBA was also on hand to give the campers an overview and a general rundown of what to expect over the next four days of camp.

This was followed by a press conference in the main gym at Darussafaka to officially open Basketball without Borders Europe 2008. Mr Saffet Karpet, President Darussafaka Sports Club; Zoran Radovic, Development Director, FIBA World; Kim Bohuny, Vice-President, Basketball Operations International and Turgay Demirel, President, Turkish Basketball Federation addressed the assembled media and officially welcomed the NBA players coaches and camp participants (see photo)

The camp participants then took to the floor for the first of their morning drill stations that each day will focus on the different fundamentals of the game; todays' session looked at rebounding and shooting off screens. The clinics were led by the NBA players and coaches with the participants rotating to each station.

After lunch, a Special Olympics basketball clinic was held for 80 kids from Istanbul and the surrounding area. Local hero Hedo Turkoglu welcomed the kids and their families and introduced his fellow NBA players and coaches to the kids who all applauded with vigor. The boys and girls aged 6-14 took to the clinic with enthusiasm and with the sound of bouncing balls filling the gym the kids perfected their shooting, passing and dribbling. The clinic came to an end on a high note with a group photo at center court.

Mehmet Okur and Hedo Turkoglu then took time to visit one of the classes at the Darussafaka school and addressed the school kids who listened to their basketball heroes with admiration!

The remainder of the afternoon was spent with the first set of games: Magic vs Spurs; Warriors vs Timberwolves; Knicks vs Jazz and Spurs vs Warriors.
