In the summer of 2001 Vlade Divac along with Kim Bohuny, Vice President of NBA Basketball Operations International, and 6 other fellow NBA stars opened the first BWB program. More than 5 years later, Vlade continues to contribute by participating in this years BWB Asia. This is a testament to Divac¡¦s character and willingness to help those who need it.

Vlade Divac was born in Serbia in 1968, and drafted by the Lakers in 1989. During his 18 year career he scored over 13,000 points, grabbed over 9,000 rebounds, had over 3,000 assists and blocked over 1,500 shots. Hakeem Olajuwon and Kareem Abdul-Jabarr were the only other two players to match these statistics.

Divac commented on his original motivation for starting the BWB camps. "My country was at war and my idea was to take kids out of it, and put them into a program where they could play, and it worked!" He continued to say with a giant smile, "basketball unites people."

"Look around you, there are people from all over (Asia)," Speaking about the continued growth of BWB program Divac proudy boasted "it really is basketball without borders!"
