NEW DEHLI, JULY 3, 2008 -- It was an early start to Basketball without Borders Asia today beginning with an ESS Basketball Clinic run by Dominique Wilkins. Over 250 students watched clips of Wilkins’ days as a player that showed exactly why he is the “Human Highlight Film.” Wilkins addressed the assembly and encouraged the crowd to “play basketball everyday because that is best way to develop friendship, teamwork, and game fundamentals.” Afterwards, Wilkins and NBA staff hit the courts with 200 lucky students for an education in basketball fundamentals.

Meanwhile back at the American Embassy School, the 53 Basketball without Borders participants got acquainted with each other as they collected their Nike camp gear and attended a Basketball English program to prep them for the next four days of training. As a special treat for the campers, NBA Coach Dave Hopla led a shooting presentation. A highly regarded shooting expert, Coach Hopla tipped-off the basketball education as he shared some secrets and quick tips for shooting success.

Energy was running high when the campers finally took the court after lunch for warm up scrimmages and evaluations. The elite players challenged each other to compete at the highest level as the coaches eagerly watched. Later that night, coaches drafted the teams they will lead through the next three days of competition.

The camp gets into full swing tomorrow as basketball skills stations, team competitions, and community events are added to the schedule
