The Oklahoma City Thunder are the second-highest scoring team in the NBA and the Indiana Pacers allow the league's second-fewest points per game.

A matchup of contrasting styles will be on display Friday night in Indianapolis, with the Pacers looking to clinch their first Central Division title in nine years with their sixth straight victory.

Oklahoma City (55-20) is averaging 106.0 points, putting it a fraction behind Houston for the NBA's highest scoring average. Indiana (48-27) is allowing an average of 89.9 points to trail Memphis as its defense prepares for Kevin Durant, who scores a league-best 28.3 points per game.

Both teams are battling for playoff positioning.

The Thunder won 100-88 over San Antonio on Thursday to move within a half-game of the Spurs for the Western Conference's best record. They're even in the loss column, and Oklahoma City holds the tiebreaker.

"We're a team that's been through it. We went to the Finals and the Western Conference finals the last two years, so we know the importance of the playoffs," Durant said. "It's not like this is our first go-around. So, we know we want to play as many games as we can here in Oklahoma City."

The Pacers are trying for their first six-game win streak since a seven-game run last April. They trail New York by a half-game in the race for the East's No. 2 seed.

Indiana completed a 4-0 West trip with Monday's 109-106 win over the Clippers, and will clinch the Central on Friday with a victory or a loss by Chicago at home to Orlando.

"Well I think we're playing at a high level and I think it's good for our confidence but we've the last couple days had the mind-set we're putting that behind us," coach Frank Vogel said. "We still have a lot of work to do and we're still a half-game back from New York, with all the wins we got out there, we're still not in the two seed right now."

Russell Westbrook scored 27 points and Durant had 25 on Thursday for Oklahoma City.

"We've got to keep playing. You win this one but drop one tomorrow, you're right back where you were," reserve Nick Collison said.

Vogel was happy that his team had three days off at home before starting a back-to-back set capped by Saturday's visit to Washington.

"It's always important to try to get your sleep patterns back on track more than anything," Vogel said. "You come back if you have to play 24, 48 hours after you come off the West coast, you're still on West coast time and that's challenging, so hopefully the extra couple of days will help us."

Durant matched his seventh-worst shooting effort of the season when he made 9 of 24 shots for 27 points Dec. 9 in a 104-93 home win over Indiana.

That contest featured a high-scoring first half in which the Thunder led 57-56 with the Pacers shooting 60.0 percent. Oklahoma City limited Indiana to 33.3 percent in the second half after coach Scott Brooks' halftime speech focused on defense.

Durant and Westbrook combined for 30 of the Thunder's 47 points after halftime.

The Pacers won last season's meeting in Indianapolis 103-98 despite Durant's 44 points.

Thunder wins 97-75 at Indiana to tie for West lead

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook refused to let anyone celebrate at their expense Friday night.

Even if Indiana was playing on its home court with a division title at stake.

Durant overcame a bruised left calf to finish with 34 points and nine rebounds, while Westbrook had 24 points, seven rebounds and nine assists in a 97-75 blowout that sent Oklahoma City into a tie with San Antonio for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

"It's one of those things that it's great that it's happened, but we're not focusing on it," coach Scott Brooks said of the top seed. "We just want to continue to play good basketball and hopefully we continue to do that. It's a great opportunity for us."

This has already been a big week for Oklahoma City (56-20), which has won three straight and six of its past seven.

And things don't get much more impressive than what they've done over the past two days.

On Thursday night, Durant & Co. took down the Spurs 100-88 then flew to Indy.

Less than 16 hours after arriving at the team hotel, the Thunder handed the Central Division leaders their worst home loss of the season - and on a night the city was poised to celebrate Indiana's first division crown in nine seasons.

Now Oklahoma City takes a one-day break before hosting New York on Sunday afternoon.

It closes the season with only two of its final five games against teams that were in position to make the playoffs heading into Friday night - Golden State and Milwaukee - and with a chance to earn the coveted top spot in the West.

Not surprisingly, Durant has been the key.

After limping to the locker room at halftime when he got kicked in the calf, the three-time NBA scoring champ returned in the second half to score 22 points on 9 of 13 shooting, almost single-handedly pushing Oklahoma City on every big scoring charge.

"It's always tough playing back-to-backs no matter what, especially home and away," said Durant, who leads the league in scoring.

"We played a tough, tough team last night and then playing a team that plays so hard, plays so well in this building, you know it's going to be tough. So we just wanted to come out and play hard for 48 minutes tonight and we'll rest up tomorrow."

The Thunder wound up beating Indiana at its own game.

They dominated the Pacers (48-28) on the glass 53-31 and outplayed the NBA's best defensive team. Indiana shot just 37.5 percent from the field and was a dismal 2 of 21 from 3-point range as its five-game winning streak ended.

Roy Hibbert led Indiana with 22 points and eight rebounds, while David West had 17 points and George Hill finished with 10. Nobody else reached double figures.

The loss will likely only delay the celebration for Indiana (48-28), which hasn't won a division crown since 2003-04 and has only four division titles in the franchise's NBA history.

The Pacers also could have wrapped up the division with a Chicago loss Friday, but the Bulls held on for an 87-86 win over Orlando.

So Indiana will get its next chance to win a division title without Reggie Miller on Saturday at Washington.

But the loss could prove more costly in the overall picture. New York's 101-83 win over Milwaukee leaves the Pacers 1 1/2 games behind the Knicks in the chase for the No. 2 seed in the East.

"Our goal above all else was to win the division, so we have to regroup tonight, prepare tomorrow for Washington which has been playing tough at home and go out and try to clinch this thing," West said.

For the first three quarters, the game lived up to its billing between two of the NBA's top teams.

Durant changed everything in the fourth quarter.

He scored the first six points in a 9-0 run, turning a 72-67 lead after three quarters into an 81-67 cushion early in the fourth. And when it looked as if the Pacers might rally midway through the fourth, Durant closed off that charge, too, with back-to-back 18-footers and a 3-pointer that made it 88-74 with 4:37 to go.

Indiana never challenged again in a game that featured 12 lead changes and 10 ties in the first half.

"We've matured as a team," Westbrook said. "We're doing a good job of playing together at the right time. Mentally, we wanted to come out and play the right way. It was important for us to come out and be aggressive. We didn't want to wait around and see how they were going to play."

Notes: Indiana will not play another team from the West unless it reaches the NBA Finals. ... Oklahoma City won both games against Indiana this season. ... The Pacers have won five straight games three times this season but have yet to win six in a row. ... The Thunder, the NBA's top free-throw shooting team, were 19 of 23 from the line.

THE FACTS: The first half ended with Kevin Durant rolling around on the floor in pain. But he returned from the calf contusion to scored 22 of his 34 points in the second half -- 15 in the fourth quarter -- as the Oklahoma City Thunder completed an impressive back-to-back sweep with a 97-75 rout of the Indiana Pacers Friday, snapping their five-game winning streak.

Coming off a win over San Antonio, and against an Indiana team with three days off, the Thunder (56-20) had the most energy down the stretch and dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring Indiana 25-8. The Pacers (48-28) shot just 2-for-18 -- 0-for-9 from the 3-point line -- in the final period. Russell Westbrook had 24 points for the Thunder, who moved into a tie with San Antonio for the top seed in the Western Conference. Indiana failed to clinch the Central Division (the magic number remains at one) and fell 1.5 games behind New York in the race for the second seed in the East.

QUOTABLE: "It's a very good back-to-back. Going into this part of the schedule we knew San Antonio/Indiana would be tough because they're elite teams that value every possession, but we like to think we're the same kind of team. It ranks up there with the best wins of the year for us."

THE STAT: Durant scored two points on 1-for-4 shooting in the game's first 20 minutes. He scored 32 on 12-for-17 shooting in the final 28.

TURNING POINT: The game was close through three quarters, with neither team leading by more than eight and Oklahoma City taking a 72-67 lead into the fourth. That's when Durant took over, scoring the first six points of the period in a 9-0 run that pushed the lead to 81-67. Indiana, which missed its first seven shots, got a couple of buckets from David West to close to 81-72 but Durant scored nine in a 13-2 run that put this one away.

QUOTABLE II: "We were up five or six points [entering the fourth quarter] and I just tried to take us over the top."

HOT: Durant shot 13-for-21 overall, 2-for-3 from the 3-point line, and also had nine rebounds. ... Roy Hibbert continued his recent surge for Indiana, scoring 22 points on 8-for-14 shooting. ... West scored 17 on 7-for-14 shooting.

NOT: Paul George struggled mightily at both ends against Durant, managing just eight points on 3-for-11 shooting and missing all six of his 3-point attempts. ... Indiana guards George Hill and Lance Stephenson combined to shoot 6-for-19, 1-for-9 from the arc. ... Indiana's reserves combined to shoot 3-for-14.

NOTABLE: Durant went down after colliding with teammate Serge Ibaka trailing Westbrook in transition on the final shot of the half. As the buzzer sounded and players began to file off the floor, Durant stayed down, rolling back and forth in obvious pain. He was helped up by teammates and walked gingerly to the locker room but was treated during the break and returned for the start of the second half ... Indiana has been outscored 66-36 in the fourth quarters of the last two games. ... Indiana had averaged 104.8 points in its five-game win streak but the Thunder limited the Pacers to .375 shooting overall, 2-for-21 from the arc. ... This was Hibbert's fourth game of at least 20 points in the last five and third straight. ... Oklahoma City dominated the boards 53-31 and outscored Indiana 21-7 on second-chance points. ... Hasheem Thabeet picked up a technical foul for tangling with Tyler Hansbrough during a rebound battle in the second quarter, and Westbrook was hit with a technical for complaining about a no-call on a drive to the bucket a few minutes later. ... Nick Collison needed a heavy bandage to wrap a cut on his hand that left blood spattered all over the back of Hansbrough's jersey as well as the court.
