The Denver Nuggets survived a close call their last time out to keep their winning streak alive.

They're likely to have their hands full again in Oklahoma City.

On the verge of its longest run in 43 seasons, Denver goes for a 13th consecutive victory Tuesday night against the Thunder.

The Nuggets (46-22) have outscored opponents by an average of 11.3 points during their 12-game surge, tied for their longest since joining the NBA in 1976-77. Denver hasn't won 13 in a row since a franchise-record 15-game run in the ABA in 1969-70.

The Nuggets found themselves in trouble Monday before escaping with a 119-118 overtime win at Chicago. Bulls center Joakim Noah tapped in a shot from teammate Marco Belinelli with 1.7 seconds to go in OT, but referees reviewed video and disallowed the basket due to offensive goaltending.

Wilson Chandler matched a career high with 35 points off the bench and Andre Iguodala made what proved to be the game-winning 3-pointer with 7.1 seconds left in the extra session.

"I'm proud of the way we stayed strong," said coach George Karl, whose team led by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter. "This was a difficult mental game because we let go of a lead in regulation where we should have won it."

The Nuggets figure to face an even tougher test against the Thunder (50-17), who have strung together 20 consecutive home wins over fellow Western Conference teams by an average of 17.0 points.

Oklahoma City has put up 112.0 per game in taking four of five from Denver at home, including a 117-97 victory Jan. 16. The Nuggets, though, have won the last two meetings, both on their own court.

After beating the Thunder 121-118 in overtime Jan. 20, Denver pulled out a 105-103 win March 1 thanks to Ty Lawson's jumper with 0.2 seconds left. Chandler shot 6 of 7 from 3-point range and finished with 35 points that night as the Nuggets' reserves outscored Oklahoma City's bench 71-11.

"That's a great asset to have," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "That's one of the strengths of their team. They're deep, they have a lot of good players that play, a lot of skill players."

The Thunder are coming off their eighth win in nine games, 107-101 at Dallas on Sunday. Russell Westbrook had a game-high 35 points on 13-of-23 shooting and Kevin Durant scored 19 of his 31 in the fourth quarter. Serge Ibaka added 18 points and 16 rebounds.

"Everybody has to step up," Brooks told the team's official website. "Everybody has a role and they have to believe in that role and make the best of that role and embrace it. And they did that tonight. We had guys step up, whether it was setting the screen, going for a loose ball or getting the rebound for an extra possession."

Westbrook, who scored a season-high 38 points against the Nuggets earlier this month, is averaging 33.2 in six matchups with Denver since the start of last season. Durant has averaged 31.4 in his last 23 games in this series, including playoffs.

The Thunder will surely be looking to come out with a better defensive effort against Chandler this time around. The Nuggets are 11-1 when he scores at least 12 points.

"Anytime when we bring (Chandler) off the bench we seem to get an offensive spurt," Karl said. "I think he is our most efficient offensive person on the team."

Nuggets 114, Thunder 104

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Andre Miller isn't known for voicing his opinion. So when the veteran point guard started talking, the Denver Nuggets listened.

A big performance on his 37th birthday started with an inspirational speech and finished with Miller's play doing all the talking for him.

Miller scored 13 of his season-best 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Nuggets beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 114-104 Tuesday night for their first 13-game winning streak since joining the NBA.

"He's a coach and a teacher and a veteran, and he does it every day in a very classy way, a very quiet way," coach George Karl said. "And then he can do what he did tonight, where he can take the most talented team maybe in the NBA and be the best player on the court for the last 6 minutes of the game."

Denver took control just after halftime, building a 13-point lead and then holding off the Thunder as they got back within 102-97 after Russell Westbrook's 17-foot jumper from the left elbow with 4:08 to play. Karl put Miller back in the game at the next stoppage, and the 13-year veteran was a stabilizing force.

Miller had back-to-back jumpers as Denver answered right back with five straight points, and he went five for six at the foul line in the final 69 seconds to close it out.

Denver's previous longest winning streak since the 1976 ABA-NBA merger was 12 straight in 1982. The franchise won 15 in a row in the 1969-70 ABA season.

"It's cool. I'm sure a lot of people didn't think we would get this game, but we talked about having some pride, working hard and practicing," Miller said. "We put in a lot of work to get to this point, so at least we came out and gave a good effort and it paid off."

Ty Lawson led Denver with 25 points. Miller also had nine assists and seven rebounds in 23 effective minutes.

Kevin Durant had 34 points and Westbrook chipped in 25 for Oklahoma City, which fell to 30-5 at home this season.

The Thunder gave up a season-worst 72 points in the paint - Denver's specialty - as both teams struggled throughout the game from 3-point range.

The Nuggets trailed by 10 early in the second quarter, but then dictated the tenor of the game the rest of the way.

"It's easy to fall into that trap. That's what they do. They get up and down the court," Durant said. "Our game is a little different. We want to run, but we want to run off our defense.

"Those guys run off of makes, misses of course and turnovers, but they continually run and pass the ball well and they score a lot in the paint. We fell into the trap and we couldn't play that game with them."

The Nuggets, who average an NBA-best 57.8 points in the paint, had 66 and 60 in that category in wins against Oklahoma City in Denver earlier this season.

"I'm sure they talked about keeping us out of the paint. They like to get to the paint and the free-throw line. It was just a battle of the wills, and we figured out how to play some defense in the second half, and that led to more paint points," said Miller.

Kenneth Faried said Miller spoke to the team before the game for the first time all season, preaching that there should be no excuses after a 109-108 overtime victory a night earlier in Chicago.

"Andre Miller is a guy who doesn't really say too much. ... When he talks, and he talks to the rest of us, everybody listens," Faried said. "Nobody's playing around. Everybody listens, everybody locks in and is focused."

Denver moved within 3 1/2 games of the Thunder in the Northwest Division and became the first team this season to beat Oklahoma City three times. It's also a big win in the chase for home-court advantage in the playoffs for Denver, which is tied with Miami for the NBA's best home record at 30-3 and using the win streak to try and edge out the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis in a tight race.

"I don't know where it ranks in NBA history, but it's a good run," said Karl, who won 14 in a row with Seattle in 1996. "I don't want to get too happy about it because we have a job to do and we have a challenge. It's to move in to get home court. There's no question that the brand of basketball that we're playing is growing and maturing, and our confidence is growing with it."

The Nuggets trailed 66-65 at halftime, but took the lead on Danilo Gallinari's 3-pointer and then followed Westbrook's tying, two-handed dunk off an inbound alley-oop pass by charging ahead with a 12-2 run. Andre Iguodala's right-handed, fast-break slam - created by Gallinari's steal - put Denver up 80-70 midway through the third and prompted Scott Brooks' second timeout to try and end the surge.

After back-to-back Thunder baskets, the Nuggets added to their cushion with seven straight points - a Lawson 3-pointer, a Corey Brewer jumper and then an 18-footer by Lawson - to make it 87-74 with 2:59 left in the third.

The Nuggets had six players score in double figures, getting 13 apiece from Faried and Gallinari, 11 from Brewer and 10 from Iguodala. Faried also grabbed 15 rebounds as Denver overcame a 14-6 first-quarter rebounding deficit to beat Oklahoma City 52-45 on the glass.

Wilson Chandler, who tied his career-high with 35 points in a win at Chicago a night earlier, did not return after separating his left shoulder in the fourth quarter. Karl called it a "slight" separation and also said Lawson aggravated a heel injury. Both are considered day-to-day.

Kevin Martin had 14 points off the bench for Oklahoma City and Kendrick Perkins had 11 rebounds, but did not play over the final 18 minutes as Denver build up its big rebounding edge.

The Nuggets were 4 for 21 from 3-point range, only slightly better than Oklahoma City's 4 for 25.

"The first time us meeting, they blew us out and it wasn't even close. They really was taunting and all the, I guess, disrespectful stuff and we got upset about that," Faried said. "Tonight, I really wanted to come out and prove that, hey, we can compete with y'all and actually, we're better."

Notes: Karl drew a technical foul in the second quarter for complaining to official Marat Kogut after Lawson was called for his third foul against Durant's "rip move," when he swings the ball through a defender's arms. ... Denver's winning streak is the third-longest in the NBA this season, behind Miami's current 23-game run and the Los Angeles Clippers' 17-game streak. Oklahoma City won 12 straight earlier in the season. ... The Heat and San Antonio are the only other teams to beat Oklahoma City twice this season.

THE FACTS: The Denver Nuggets used an offensive explosion in the second quarter and a lockdown defensive effort in the third and then held off a Thunder rally in the fourth for a 114-104 win. The victory is the team's 13th straight and sets a Nuggets record for their NBA history but the franchise won 15 games in the 1969-70 season while the team played in the old ABA.

The Nuggets had six players in double figures led by point guard Ty Lawson who finished with 25 points, his backup Andre Miller had 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds. Kenneth Faried had a monster night with 13 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 34 points but the Thunder only had two other players in double figures. Russell Westbrook added 25 points and six assists and Kevin Martin showed signs of snapping out of a shooting slump with 14 points on 4-for-7 shooting.

The Nuggets dominated down low, scoring a whopping 72 points in the paint. The Thunder dominated on the fast break scoring 26 points on 11 shots while Denver managed 15 points on 12 shots.

The Nuggets win the season series from Oklahoma City 3-1 and took the last three games in a row.

QUOTABLE: "Thirteen wins, that's a good run. I don't wanna get too happy because we still have a job to do to try and get home court advantage in the first round. But boy these guys are a lot of fun to coach."

THE STAT: After scoring 34 points and shooting 59.1 percent in the first quarter the Thunder managed just 38 points in the entire second half and shot just 31.7 percent.

TURNING POINT: A 15-4 Denver run to start the third quarter put the Nuggets solidly in control with a double-digit lead and set the Thunder back on their heels. Even though the Nuggets were playing the second night of a back-to-back they seemed to be the team with a bit more energy in a game that was played at a frenetic pace.

QUOTABLE II: "Give them a lot of credit, they're playing the best basketball in the West right now. We didn't accomplish what we wanted to [limiting paint points] and they outplayed us tonight. We have to get better and we have time it's only March."

HOT: Thunder started the game hot, shooting 59.1 percent (13-for-22) in the first quarter...Durant (4-for-8), Westbrook (3-for-6) and Martin (2-for-2) combined to go 9-for-14 (64.3 percent) in the first quarter...Lawson was 3-for-4 in the third quarter.

NOT: Danilo Gallinari was 3-for-10 in the first half...Andre Iguodala was 3-for-11 in the second half...Durant was 4-for-10 in the second half and 0-for-4 on 3-pointers...OKC was 0-15 on threes in the second half.

INSIDE THE ARENA: Faith Night in Oklahoma City and Rev. Jesse Jackson was a part of the 101st consecutive sellout crowd inside Chesapeake Energy Arena.

GOOD MOVE: Containing Chandler was a big focus for the Thunder going into the game. He had scored 35 points on the Bulls the night before and he had hit for 35 against OKC the last time these two teams played. In his first nine minutes though, Chandler had only two points on 1-for-2 shooting. He finished the first half with seven points on 3-for-6 shooting.

BAD MOVE: Oklahoma City at times seemed just helpless trying to do anything about Denver's ability to score inside. Then Nuggets came in averaging an NBA-best 57.6 paint points per game and had 44 by halftime on 22-for-38 shooting (57.9 percent) down low. They finished with 72, six less than their season-high.

NOTABLE: Chandler left the game in the second half with a separated shoulder and did not return. He's status is unknown...Lawson tweaked his Achilles late in the game, his status is also unclear.
