After losing to the NBA's hottest team, the Milwaukee Bucks hope to avoid matching their longest skid of the season while hosting Florida's other, currently less successful, club.

Looking to get back on track offensively, the Bucks try to avoid a fourth straight defeat Sunday against the lowly Orlando Magic.

Though Milwaukee (32-32) has a seven-game lead over Toronto for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, it's dropped three in a row. The Bucks averaged 109.7 points and shot 48.1 percent to win five of seven before failing to score more than 94 while shooting 41.4 in the last two versus Washington and red-hot Miami.

Ersan Ilyasova had 26 points with 17 rebounds and Brandon Jennings scored 21, but the Bucks shot 37.1 percent Friday as the Heat extended their winning streak to 21 games with a 107-94 victory at the Bradley Center.

"The last couple of games we've had a lot of good looks and the ball is just not dropping in for us now," Milwaukee coach Jim Boylan said. "Over the course of a long season you have these spots where your shooters aren't shooting the ball the way you'd like."

J.J. Redick had 14 points and shot 4 of 11 - his second-worst shooting performance since being acquired from Orlando at the trade deadline.

Redick is averaging 14.2 points and hitting 35.1 percent of his 3-pointers in 10 games with the Bucks, and this will be his first game against the Magic, the team that drafted him with the 11th pick of the 2006 draft.

Monta Ellis averaged 26.8 points on 51.4 percent shooting in the previous nine contests but went 3 of 11 from the field and finished with seven against the Heat.

Though Jennings broke out after totaling 12 points in the previous two, he's shot 14 of 41 (34.1 percent), including 4 of 15 from 3-point range, in the last four games.

Jennings and Ellis combined for 41 points on 15-of-32 shooting (46.9 percent) to help the Bucks snap a seven-game losing streak to Orlando (18-48) with a 107-98 home victory Feb. 2.

In five games versus Orlando since 2009-10, Ellis has shot 50.5 percent to average 28.6 points - his best against any opponent. Jennings is averaging 23.0 points on 50.0 percent (26 of 52) shooting in three straight against the Magic.

A victory Sunday would secure Milwaukee's first winning season series over Orlando since 2004-05.

The Bucks might have a good chance to accomplish that and end their recent offensive struggles while facing the Magic, who have allowed 108.8 points on 50.3 percent shooting to lose seven of nine.

Orlando trailed by as many 27 points but got within four before going scoreless in the final 2 1/2 minutes of Friday's 117-104 loss at Oklahoma City. Jameer Nelson scored 26, Nikola Vucevic had 21 with 14 rebounds and Arron Afflalo added 20 for the Magic, who have lost 35 of 41.

The losses will likely continue to mount as Orlando began a stretch Friday of playing 14 of its 17 games against teams currently in playoff position.

"This is a great test for us, it starts (in Oklahoma City) and it will continue the rest of the way by playing a majority of playoff teams who are jockeying for playoff position," coach Jacque Vaughn told the Magic's official website. "There are no off nights or sympathy nights. So we better bring it or we'll get embarrassed. That's a great motivator."

Bucks beat Magic 115-109 behind big 4th from Ellis

MILWAUKEE (AP) Bucks coach Jim Boylan was hardly in the mood to celebrate even though his team came back from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter.

Monta Ellis scored a season-high 39 points, including 25 in the fourth quarter, and Milwaukee rallied for a 115-109 over the Orlando Magic on Sunday.

Losers of three consecutive games coming into the matchup with the Magic, who own the second-worst record in the NBA, the Bucks trailed most of the way before Ellis took over in the fourth. He connected on all five of his 3-point attempts in the period, and his 25 points were the most by an NBA player in one quarter this season.

"Monta was pretty amazing there in the fourth quarter. I'm happy that we won the game, but I am really concerned with the way we are playing right now," Boylan said. "It's not good enough. We need to play better. Right now we are not a very good team. You can't rely on scoring 45 points in the fourth quarter in order to pull a game out at home."

The Bucks, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, are looking to improve their position heading into the season's final stretch.

"First of all, we are not in the playoffs," Boylan said. "If you play a casual kind of game without the intensity that is necessary to win, then you are going to lose. We need to turn it up and we need to be a serious team. Right now we are not playing like a serious team."

Boylan was especially critical of his team's effort on defense.

"The defensive end is where the problems are - period," he said. "We don't play any defense. We are not committed to it. We were very, very lucky to win this game."

Ellis' fourth-quarter scoring spree included a fast-break dunk off a slick pass from backcourt mate Brandon Jennings.

"It was just one of them days where you feel it and the crowd got into it," Ellis said. "My teammates had faith in me to give me the ball at the time and I was able to knock the shots down. I didn't think about it. I just shot the ball."

The Bucks ended the game on a 30-12 run, handing the Magic their eighth loss in 10 games.

The Magic were up 97-85 midway through the final quarter, but back-to-back 3s by Ellis cut the lead to six points. The dunk by Ellis later in the quarter brought the Bucks to 101-99.

Orlando's Arron Afflalo connected on a 3 to make it 104-99 before Ellis made another 3-pointer to again slice the lead to two. The teams exchanged baskets until an Orlando missed shot led to Ersan Ilyasova's layup at the other end off an assist from Jennings to tie it at 108.

Magic rookie Mo Harkless made one of two free throws to put Orlando ahead 109-108 with 1:08 remaining.

On the ensuing possession, Larry Sanders made a hook shot to put the Bucks in front 110-109. Jameer Nelson missed a shot and Ellis sank his fifth 3 of the quarter to put the Bucks up 113-109 with 13 seconds remaining.

A five-second violation on Orlando gave the Bucks the ball again. J.J. Redick added two free throws as the lead grew to the final margin of 115-109.

"It (doesn't) play out the way we always picture it, but tonight we just played extra, extra hard down the stretch to get a win," Ellis said.

Ilyasova had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee. Jennings added 15 points and 14 assists.

Afflalo scored 24 points and Harkless had a career-high 23 for the Magic. Nikola Vucevic added 20 points and 15 rebounds in the loss.

"In the fourth quarter we didn't defend like we did the first three quarters," Vucevic said. "We played well for most of the game, but at the end of the game Monta Ellis made some huge shots, some tough shots. We didn't make the right adjustments. We didn't defend it right. They got back into it and got the win."

Orlando outscored Milwaukee 62-40 in the paint.

"We were just moving the ball and I had a chance to get a lot of easy buckets. My teammates were able to find me," Vucevic said.

Tobias Harris, traded by the Bucks to Orlando in a six-player deadline deal last month that brought Redick to Milwaukee, gave a wry smile when asked if he had seen Ellis have an outburst like he did in the fourth quarter on Sunday.

"Not that many 3s, to be honest," Harris said. "He was hot and they made some real tough shots. They made shots that were contested and shots where they had a lot of bodies around them. (Ellis) is a big-time player and he makes those plays."

The Bucks began the game by missing 11 of their first 13 shots while the Magic failed to connect on nine of their first 12 attempts. Orlando improved its shooting and led 25-18 after the period.

The Bucks' shooting woes continued in the second quarter. Milwaukee finished the first half shooting just 30 percent and trailed 54-44. The Bucks opened the third on a 7-0 run, but the Magic rebuilt the lead to 13 late in the quarter. Orlando was up 81-70 going into the fourth.

"You have to give Milwaukee credit for continuing to play throughout the course of the game," Orlando coach Jacque Vaughn said. "Our focus and our intensity has to be the same throughout. We will all do some self-examination. I will see what I could have done better to put our squad in a better position to win."

NOTES: The Bucks improved to 8-0 at home on St. Patrick's Day. ... Magic rookie forward Andrew Nicholson returned after missing Friday night's game and not practicing Saturday while quarantined because of illness. ... Milwaukee's Luc Richard Mbah a Moute missed his fourth consecutive game with a turf toe injury. Marquis Daniels, who scored 14 points against Miami on Friday night, started in his place. ... The rare noon start required the teams to alter their routines. "It's just different. Do you go to bed earlier? When do you wake up to eat? How much do you eat? Routine-wise, it throws you off," Vaughn said.

THE FACTS: Monta Ellis had a performance to remember, scoring 25 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter to rally the Milwaukee Bucks to a 115-109 victory over the Orlando Magic Sunday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Ellis scored 19 points over the final 6:32 as he almost single-handedly rallied the Bucks (33-32) from a 97-85 deficit.

Aaron Afflalo led Orlando (18-49) with 24 points, rookie Maurice Harkless had 23 and center Nikola Vucevic had 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Ersan Ilyasova added 20 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee, which snapped a three-game losing streak.

QUOTABLE: "It was just one of those days where you're feeling it. The crowd got into it and my teammates had faith in me to give me the ball and I was able to knock the shots down."
-- Ellis, whose 25 fourth-quarter points are the most for a player in a quarter this season.

THE STAT: Ellis went 5-for-5 on 3-pointers in the final 6:32. He entered the game shooting 24.2 percent from beyond the arc and missed his first one of the game.

TURNING POINT: A layup by Afflalo with 6:45 left capped a 5-0 run that gave Orlando a 97-85 lead. Ellis answered with three 3-pointers over the next 68 seconds, igniting a 30-12 closing run. His final 3-pointer came with 13 seconds left and gave the Bucks a 113-109 lead.

HOT: Who else but Ellis, who finished 13-for -2, including 8-of-0 in the fourth quarter.

NOT: J.J. Redick was playing against his former Magic teammates for the first time but went just 1-for -5, including 0- for-4 on 3-pointers.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Along with Ellis' huge 39-point performance, the Bucks had double-doubles from Ilyasova (20 points, 11 rebounds), Brandon Jennings (15 points, 14 assists) and Larry Sanders (13 points, 11 rebounds).

GOOD MOVE: The Bucks went almost exclusively to Ellis once he got hot, but the two times Orlando got the ball out of Ellis' hands, Jennings came up with huge deliveries. He assisted an Ilyasova layup that tied it at 108, then assisted an inside hoop by Sanders that gave the Bucks a 110-109 lead with 56.8 seconds left -- Milwaukee's first lead since 11-9 with 4:55 left in the first quarter.

ROOKIE WATCH: Harkless' 23 points are a career-high, but he missed badly on an open 3-pointer with 1:44 left and then missed the first of two free throws with 1:08 left.

NOTABLE: The Bucks entered the game at 16-16 at home, 16-16 on the road, 16-16 under former coach Scott Skiles and 16-16 under current coach Boylan. ... Milwaukee scored 45 points in the fourth quarter after scoring 44 in the first half. ... Ellis did not score in the first quarter and had just six at halftime. ... The Bucks are 10-11 all-time on St. Patrick's Day but 8-0 at home. ... Sanders has double-digit rebounds in each of his last four games. ... Orlando's Tobias Harris finished with 14 points and eight rebounds in his first game against his former team but did foul out in just 32 minutes of playing time.
