The Utah Jazz aren't in the best spot in the Western Conference standings, but they know how to play from behind.

Now they'll have to show they can play with a distraction after the recent arrest of assistant coach Sidney Lowe.

Back from the All-Star break, Utah goes for a third consecutive victory on Tuesday night when the Golden State Warriors try to avoid a sixth straight loss with its first two-game season sweep in Salt Lake City since 1980-81.

After losing two straight, Utah (30-24) ended the first half with a 109-94 victory over Northwest Division-leading Oklahoma City last Tuesday and a 97-93 road win over Minnesota a day later when it overcame a 10-point second-quarter deficit.

The Jazz, the NBA leader with 13 wins in games they've trailed by double-digits, could move into a virtual tie with the Warriors (30-22) for sixth place in the West if they record their first 3-0 stretch since a four-game surge from Jan. 12-23.

Utah's focus should be on winning for the 12th time in 14 home games, but the team was answering questions about Lowe on Monday after he was arrested earlier in the day for failing to file his North Carolina state income taxes during his last three years (2009-11) coaching North Carolina State.

"It's a personal matter," said coach Tyrone Corbin, who added that Lowe will be with the team on Tuesday after missing Monday's practice. "We'll deal with it."

On the court, the Jazz will face a Golden State team that's lost by an average of 18.4 points during its longest skid since an eight-game slide spanning April 9-21.

"We're not there yet. We're not where we think we are," center Andrew Bogut said after last Tuesday's 116-107 loss to Houston. "I think we thought we were maybe a little better than we were."

The Warriors need to improve defensively or they could soon find themselves out of the playoff picture. They're giving up 118.0 points per game during their skid after allowing an average of 96.8 in its previous four, all wins.

"I thought for 48 minutes we didn't defend our brand, so it's been consistent with what we've done the last four games," coach Mark Jackson said last Tuesday.

Wins in Salt Lake City have been hard to come by for Golden State - it has lost 49 of 60 there, including the playoffs, since the 1987-88 season - but the Warriors won 94-83 in their last visit on Dec. 26.

Utah's 38.6 shooting percentage in that game was its worst at home all season.

Defensively, the Jazz backcourt of Jamaal Tinsley and Randy Foye will have to do a better job on Stephen Curry, who scored Golden State's first 11 points on Dec. 26 en route a team-best 23.

Curry, who is second in the league with 149 3-pointers, failed to advance to the final round of the 3-point contest during All-Star weekend.

Warriors All-Star forward David Lee, who finished with six points and two boards in the West's 143-138 victory on Sunday, has a league-best 33 double-doubles. He had 18 points and nine boards on Dec. 26.

Jefferson had 18 points and 10 rebounds in that contest, while Paul Millsap added 14 and seven.

Gordon Hayward (sprained right shoulder) is expected to miss an 11th straight game for Utah.

Jazz send Warriors to 6th straight loss, 115-101

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Nearly two months on, Utah Jazz players hadn't forgotten the embarrassing double-digit loss they suffered at home to Golden State.

They evened the score Tuesday night with a 115-101 victory over the Warriors.

"Everyone kept saying, `We owed them,"' guard Randy Foye said of a spirited Monday night practice session. "Tonight we came out and had a different swag about us. . We wanted to show them they're not going to walk over us this time."

Al Jefferson scored 24 points, Gordon Hayward added 17 in his return from a shoulder injury and the Jazz never trailed in extending the Warriors' losing streak to six games.

Seven Jazz players scored in double figures and Utah got 47 points from its reserves.

Utah also made 10 of 21 3-pointers, including three by Foye, who finished with 15 points.

The Jazz viewed the win as a double-victory considering they entered the night with as many wins but two more losses than the Warriors. Golden State (30-23) remains percentage points ahead of the Jazz (31-24) for sixth place in the Western Conference playoff race. The teams play once more, in April.

The Warriors were hoping the All-Star break would refresh them after they dropped five straight to ruin a strong start to the season.

Despite what coach Mark Jackson said was a sharp practice the night before, the Warriors had the same defensive struggles during a skid that saw them allow opponents 118 points a game on 49 percent shooting and 43 percent from 3-point range.

"It is another uncharacteristic performance by us," Jackson said. "We have to find ourselves."

He insisted it wasn't time to give up.

"I am not going to jump off this ship," Jackson said. "I believe in my guys . but we have to find five guys on the floor that are going to scratch, claw and compete because history tells me that the only way out of a funk like this is working our way out of it."

Stephen Curry led Golden State with 29 points, Jarrett Jack had 19 off the bench and David Lee contributed 18 on 9-of-13 shooting. Center Andrew Bogut was held scoreless on 0-of-4 shooting in 15 minutes.

Lee's runner and Curry's fourth 3-pointer pulled the Warriors within 93-87 with 9:47 remaining.

That's as close as they would get.

Paul Millsap's turnaround jumper ignited a 6-0 Utah run and the Jazz held the Warriors to 30 percent shooting in the fourth.

Utah has won three straight and seven of its last 10.

The Jazz got a big lift Tuesday from the return of Hayward. Their playmaker had missed the past 10 games with a right shoulder injury.

Hayward hardly looked rusty, hitting 5 of 9 shots, including a pair of 3-pointers, to finish with 17 points in 25 minutes off the bench.

It didn't take long for his right shoulder to get a test.

He checked into the game with 4:35 remaining in the first quarter to loud applause. Two minutes later, he drove the lane and took a shot to the same shoulder from Andris Biedrins.

"It was good as far as realizing it would be fine if I took a hit," said Hayward, who has been Utah's third-leading scorer this season at 13.5 points a game. "It stung a little bit. But I stepped up and knocked down two free throws and moved on from there."

Jefferson said the Jazz now just need to get starting point Mo Williams back after he had thumb surgery in early January.

"Then I just think we keep rolling," Jefferson said.

The question is whether Jefferson and Millsap will be around to see the playoff run play out.

Both are unrestricted free agents after this season and have been the subject of trade rumors heading into Thursday's deadline.

"My name has been in trade rumors ever since my second year in Boston when they were trying to trade me for Allen Iverson," Jefferson said. "That was the rumor. Nothing happened then. Nothing ever happens. This year is going to be no different for me as far as focus. I will continue to stay focused and do my job."

Millsap made 4 of 4 from the line and also grabbed nine rebounds.

If Tuesday was his last game in a Jazz uniform, he wasn't distracted.

"Our team is good that we have now," he said. "These are rumors. That's what rumors are. Who knows who started them? Our job is to get out there and win games no matter who's here."

NOTES: Utah assistant Sidney Lowe was on the Jazz bench, coaching his first game since being arrested over the weekend in North Carolina for failing to file his state income tax returns for 2009, 2010, 2011. The team is referring all legal questions to Lowe's attorney, but coach Tyrone Corbin said," We support him wholeheartedly. He understands and has taken responsibility for where he is in it. We'll support him and move on." ... Corbin wouldn't talk specifics about Thursday's trade deadline, but said, "I love everybody on this team. Love what these guys bring, love how they stayed focused and try to get better. ... These are Utah Jazz kind of guys."

THE FACTS: Gordon Hayward returned just in time for the Utah Jazz to make one last push to keep their current team together. Al Jefferson, the subject of constant trade rumors leading up to Thursday's trade deadline, had 24 points. Hayward added 17 points to lead the Jazz to a 115-101 wire-to-wire win over the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.

Paul Millsap, the other Jazz player frequently mentioned in trade rumors, had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Hayward was back after missing 10 straight games for Utah (31-24) because of a right shoulder sprain.

The All-Star break did nothing to break the Warriors (30-23) out of their funk. They lost their season-worst sixth straight game. They've lost those six games by an average of 17.7 points while allowing 117.5 points per game.

Stephen Curry led Golden State with 29 points. Jarrett Jack came off the bench to contribute 19 points and a season-high nine assists.

QUOTABLE: "Guys have earned it. They've continued to work hard. This is a group of guys that's going to compete every time they're out on the floor. They're a great group of guys and I hope to continue working with them."

THE STAT: The Jazz knew they couldn't let the Warriors run wild like they did the last time they played. Utah focused on limiting Golden State in transition, and held the Warriors to just 11 fast-break points. The Jazz did a great job of getting back on defense, putting a man on Golden State's ball handlers on fast breaks and staying on top of their shooters. When the two teams played in December, the Warriors had 25 fast-break points.

TURNING POINT: Just as it seemed Golden State had the game's momentum after Curry hit a 3-pointer to make it 66-65, the Jazz took over. Jefferson started a 15-4 run with a thunderous dunk and capped it with a jumper. Jefferson had nine of Utah's 15 points during its game-clinching spurt, while Randy Foye and Marvin Williams buried 3-pointers to put Utah ahead 81-69 with 3:36 left in the third quarter. The Warriors, meanwhile, shot 2-for-9 and committed two turnovers as the Jazz pulled away.

HOT: Hayward showed his shoulder was fine after a hard shooting foul by Andris Biedrins in the first quarter. He made both free throws, and then went on to have an all-around solid game. He had four assists, three rebounds and two blocked shots while shooting 5-for-9. Jefferson shot 6-for-8 in the second half and 11-for-18 overall. Alec Burks, despite the return of Hayward, got well-deserved playing time and he made the most of it. He shot 5-for-8, scored 13 points and had five rebounds in 25 minutes. For the Warriors, Curry kept them in the game with dynamic offensive play. David Lee, hampered by foul trouble, shot 9-for-13 and had 18 points. Klay Thompson had 15 points on 6-for-11 shooting.

NOT: Biedrins had a season-high 12 rebounds the last time the Warriors played in Utah. This time, he couldn't get out of his own way. He had two points and two rebounds while fouling out in 16 minutes. Harrison Barnes (1-for-5), Andrew Bogut (0-for-4) and Draymond Green (1-for-6) couldn't get things going for Golden State either. The Warriors shot just 30 percent in the fourth quarter. For the Jazz, only Enes Kanter struggled, as he shot 0-for-4 and went scoreless in 11 minutes.

QUOTABLE II: "You can't just point to one thing. It's a little bit of everything and a little bit of everybody. It seems like each time down the court it's just a minor mistake by one guy, then another mistake by another guy. Then there are times where guys just hit tough shots. You add all that together and you give up another 115 points and lose another game."

GOOD MOVE: The Jazz kept their composure -- and turned up their play a few notches on offense and defense -- after the Warriors pulled within 66-65 in the third quarter. They executed offensively, and got Jefferson some easy baskets. On defense, they got a little more aggressive, forced some turnovers and made the Warriors take shots a little further out than they seemed to want to.

BAD MOVE: Golden State's defense continues to be a sieve. The Warriors allowed Utah to get too many easy baskets, and their 3-point defense was awful. Utah shot 10-for-21 from 3-point range. Here's an indication of how far the Warriors' defense has fallen in recent weeks: They held the Jazz to 83 points when the two teams played in December. The Jazz, this time, topped 83 points with 1:53 left in the third quarter.

NOTABLE: Foye has made a 3-pointer in 22 straight games. He sank three of them against Golden State and scored 15 points. It was the Jazz's third wire-to-wire victory this season. The Warriors are 1-6 when an opponent shoots 50 percent or better from the field. Utah shot 55.3 percent in the final three quarters and 50 percent for the game. The Jazz moved to seven games above .500 for the first time this season and into sixth place in the Western Conference with the victory. Seven Utah players scored in double figures.
