While the Indiana Pacers handily got by the Utah Jazz at home last month, they figure to face a much stiffer test in Salt Lake City.

The Pacers look to avoid a sixth consecutive road loss to a Jazz team seeking a season best-tying sixth straight home win Saturday night.

Indiana (26-17) dominated Utah (23-20) in almost every facet during a 104-84 rout Dec. 19. George Hill and Paul George scored 20 points apiece as the Pacers, who led by as many as 32, outscored the Jazz 52-28 in the paint and limited them to 37.2 percent shooting.

"They are a good defensive team," Utah coach Tyrone Corbin said. "They took us out of what we wanted to do early. They forced a lot of late shot-clock shots, most of them from the perimeter."

The Pacers, giving up 89.3 points per game to rank second in the NBA, have proven anything but stifling during their last five road matchups against the Jazz. Indiana has allowed an average of 106.2 points and been outscored by 16.4 in those one-sided affairs, dropping to 6-19 at Utah dating to 1986.

The Pacers also struggled defensively Wednesday in a 100-80 loss at Portland. George and David West combined for 43 points but Indiana posted a season-worst 56.4 opponent field-goal percentage and matched a season low with 34 rebounds.

"They played a little bit more aggressive than we did," West said. "We just weren't there for one another on the defensive end. … We know we're better than that defensively.

"Any time you let a team shoot that good of a percentage from the floor, you really don't have a chance to win the game."

Coach Frank Vogel's team, which is 29th in the league with 87.9 points per game on the road, could have a hard time getting back on track against the Jazz. Excluding two losses to the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah has gone 14-2 at home while allowing just 92.9 points per contest.

The Jazz have won 13 of 14 against Eastern Conference teams on their own court since the start of 2011-12, including all five games this season by an average of 12.0 points. They've also strung together five in a row at home overall.

Utah is surely looking forward to getting back there after a 102-84 road loss to the Lakers on Friday. The Jazz, who had won four straight and six of seven, were outrebounded 45-30 and outscored 54-40 in the lane.

"We have to understand how we have to play against a team that's playing physical like they are and be ready to go again (Saturday) night," Corbin told the league's official website. "It's going to be a tough one against Indiana."

Al Jefferson managed just 12 points on 5-of-14 from the field Friday while former Pacer Jamaal Tinsley shot 3 of 12 to finish with six.

Averaging a team-high 17.0 points, Jefferson was held to a season worst-tying four points on 1-of-8 shooting versus Indiana in December. He had scored 22.2 per game in his previous five matchups against the Pacers.

George is averaging 21.5 at home compared to 14.1 on the road. He's scored at least 20 in two of his last three games in opposing arenas, though.

Jazz edge Pacers 114-110 in overtime

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) Gordon Hayward had his right arm in a sling as he sat in front of his locker, hampered by a sprained shoulder.

This was one rough night for the reserve swingman. But at least it was a winning one.

Al Jefferson scored 25 points and Paul Millsap had 21, leading the Utah Jazz to a 114-110 overtime victory over the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.

Utah scored the first six points in overtime after blowing a 97-89 lead with 2:44 left in regulation. Hayward coughed up three turnovers to George Hill in the final minute of the fourth.

"I rushed things a little bit too much," Hayward said. "You got to give them credit. Good defensive plays for sure. My teammates bailed me out for sure."

Paul George scored 24 points, David West added 23 and Hill had 22 for Indiana (26-18), which lost for the third time in four road games. The Pacers outrebounded the Jazz 41-28.

Hayward scored 15 points, but had the ball stolen from him three times on the final three possessions for Utah in regulation.

The Jazz held a 98-94 lead when Hill stepped in front of Hayward's attempted pass to Jefferson and took it in for layup to cut the lead to two. Hill picked Hayward's pocket again a few seconds later, leading to George's tying free throws with 9.5 seconds left.

Utah still had a time for a potential winning shot, but never got a chance to run a play after Hill stole the ball from Hayward a third time to force overtime.

The Jazz bounced back by making five consecutive baskets to open the overtime period. The final one, a long jumper from Jefferson, gave the Jazz a 108-102 lead with 1:51 remaining.

Utah stayed one step ahead on offense throughout the game and ended up shooting 53 percent from the field.

"We have to tighten the screws on defense," Indiana coach Frank Vogel said. "We put 90 percent of our emphasis into riding the ship on the offensive end. You reach a point where you realize you have to tighten the screws. It's tough to beat good teams in their buildings when you aren't tied together on defense."

The Pacers pulled within three on a 3-pointer by George with 30.6 seconds left. Hayward blocked George when he tried another 3 on Indiana's next possession. Randy Foye then sank a pair of free throws with 6.4 seconds to go to seal the win.

"They still made it tough," Jefferson said. "Even when we thought we had the game won, they made something out of nothing every time."

After a listless second quarter, the Jazz bounced back in the third. Utah neutralized Indiana's advantage on the glass by attacking the rim and forcing the Pacers to settle for outside shots.

It paid off when the Jazz put together a 9-0 run capped by Derrick Favors' dunk off a lob pass from Earl Watson, putting Utah in front 69-59 late in the quarter.

Indiana put together a couple of rallies, but Utah had a response for each charge - until the Pacers' final surge to force overtime.

Hill's jumper trimmed the Jazz's lead to 73-68, but Hayward closed the third with a three-point play and Favors scored on the first play of the fourth to push the lead back to 10.

The Pacers trimmed the lead to three on Roy Hibbert's basket with 4:22 left. Then Jefferson took over, making a free throw and a pair of baskets to increase Utah's advantage to eight.

NOTES: Hayward sprained his shoulder on a hard screen. X-rays were negative and he is day to day. ... Indiana shot 62.5 percent (20 of 32) from the field in the first half. ... THE FACTS: Utah Jazz center Al Jefferson and guard Gordon Hayward made some costly mistakes late in regulation against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night.

Each player got a shot at redemption in overtime -- and each came through. Jefferson scored eight points in overtime, and Hayward blocked a shot and grabbed the loose ball with 8.9 seconds remaining to lead the Jazz to a thrilling 114-110 win over the Pacers.

Jefferson had a game-high 25 points and six rebounds for Utah. He regrouped after missing a jumper that likely would have been the dagger as the Jazz led 98-94 with 53.8 seconds remaining. Hayward, who injured his right shoulder while coming off a screen to block Paul George's shot in the final seconds of overtime, committed an incredible three turnovers in the final 32 seconds of the fourth quarter to nearly cost Utah the game.

Indiana overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. David West had 24 points and George had 23 points and three 3-pointers. George Hill flirted with a triple-double with 22 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

QUOTABLE: "They still made it tough. Even when we thought we had the game won, they made something out of nothing every time."

THE STAT: Indiana was uncharacteristically sloppy with the ball, especially in the game's first three quarters. The Pacers committed 21 turnovers with 18 of them coming before the fourth quarter. The Jazz had a season-high 17 steals that helped lead to 18 fast-break points. Paul Millsap was Utah's top thief, as he tied a season-high with five steals.

TURNING POINT: After coughing up a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter, the Jazz came out refocused for overtime. Jefferson quickly hit two shots before West turned the ball over on a shot-clock violation. Millsap and Hayward made layups off of assists from Earl Watson to put Utah ahead 106-100 midway through the overtime period. The Pacers closed within 110-107 before Hayward's block on George's shot sealed the win for Utah.

There was controversy after that though as an in-bounds pass by Millsap, with the Jazz ahead 112-110, appeared to hit the back or bottom of the backboard, and was briefly loose before he collected it and was fouled by George with 1.4 seconds remaining. He sank two free throws to give Utah its winning margin. Indiana argued that it should have gotten possession or the play should have been reviewed after the ball hit the backboard.

HOT: West had perhaps the worst moment of his career in Utah when he tore his ACL as a member of the New Orleans Hornets in March of 2011. He looked to be all the way back from his injury against the Jazz on Thursday. He made six of his first eight shots and also collected seven rebounds, three blocked shots, three assists and two steals. The Pacers are the league's top rebounding team and it showed. They had a 41-28 edge in rebounds. Earlier it was worse than that, as Indiana had a 34-15 advantage in boards after three quarters. Watson gave the Jazz a lift off the bench with five assists, four rebounds -- two of which came on the offensive end -- and two steals to go along with two points. Millsap shot well for Utah, going 8-for-13 with 21 points.

NOT: It was difficult to tell what was worse -- Lance Stephenson's shot or his body language. The starter shot 0-for-4 and did not play in the fourth quarter or overtime.

QUOTABLE II: "Some bad plays from me. I rushed things a little bit too much. You got to give them credit. Good defensive plays for sure. And my teammates bailed me out for sure."

GOOD MOVE: On the verge of what would have been a disastrous loss, the Jazz got back to their bread-and-butter on offense -- feeding Jefferson inside. They put the game in Jefferson's hands and he responded by shooting 4-for-6 in overtime and getting Utah out to a quick lead in the extra period.

BAD MOVE: The Jazz nearly gave the game away with abysmal execution late in the fourth quarter. Hayward was the main culprit, turning the ball over on a forced pass to Jefferson and then had the ball pick-pocketed by Hill while he was bringing it up the court. On Utah's last possession in the fourth quarter, Hayward had the ball stolen by West. DeMarre Carroll also had a hand in Utah's bad decisions, as he committed a loose ball foul on George with 9.5 seconds remaining. The Jazz were in the penalty, and George made both foul shots to tie it at 98-98.

NOTABLE: Indiana hasn't won in Utah since 2005. ... The Jazz have won six straight games at home. ... Hayward, who had his right shoulder wrapped in ice in the locker room following the game, tied a season-high with six assists. ... Utah is 2-0 in overtime this season. ... The Jazz shot 53 percent. It was just the fourth time this season Indiana has allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent. The Pacers are 0-4 in those contests. ... Roy Hibbert had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
