The Milwaukee Bucks are off to their best start in seven years, and they got things going with a rare victory over the Boston Celtics last week.

The Bucks will try to keep rolling by winning back-to-back meetings with the Celtics for the first time in 5 1/2 years Saturday night.

Milwaukee (3-1) hasn't started this well since winning four of its first five in 2005-06.

Brandon Jennings helped get this season off to an impressive start Nov. 2, scoring 21 points with 13 assists in a 99-88 win at Boston (2-3). The Bucks had lost six straight and 14 of the previous 17 matchups.

Milwaukee last won back-to-back meetings with Boston from April 4-13, 2007.

Jennings is averaging 18.5 points while hitting 8 of 19 3-pointers in four games against the Celtics at the Bradley Center. Fellow guard Monta Ellis had 14 points against Boston last week and is averaging 23.1 over his last eight meetings.

Ellis spurred Friday's 101-91 win at winless Washington by scoring 22 points and adding five assists and five rebounds. Jennings had 12 points and seven assists before being ejected after shoving the Wizards' Bradley Beal following a flagrant foul on Ellis.

"I was just trying to protect my teammate," Jennings said. "I didn't think I was going to get kicked out for it."

The Bucks will surely need Jennings on the court as they continue a stretch of three games in four days. After hosting Boston, they'll visit Philadelphia on Monday.

The Celtics can sympathize with Milwaukee, as they visit the Bradley Center for the second game of the same stretch. They'll end it at Chicago on Monday.

Boston will be trying to rebound from Friday's 106-100 home defeat to Philadelphia, two days after beating Washington 100-94 in overtime to sweep a home-and-home set.

The Celtics gave up 26 fast-break points to the 76ers.

"If we can do a better job of getting back on defense, limit the easy opportunities, we give ourselves a better chance," forward Paul Pierce said. "Guys on the perimeter have to get back."

Despite their slow start after losing in the seventh game of the Eastern Conference finals last season, the Celtics know it takes time for a team with many new players to jell.

"I'm very patient," Pierce said. "I understand it's a process. We're only five games in. We're still building."

Still, Pierce, Rajon Rondo and Kevin Garnett remain the key offensive threats.

Pierce leads the team with 20.0 points per game after scoring 24 against Philadelphia, while Garnett is averaging 17.3 points and 8.5 rebounds over the past four games.

Rondo is averaging 15.6 points and a league-leading 14.0 assists, dishing out a season-high 20 on Friday. He had 11 assists and 14 points against Milwaukee last week, while Pierce and Garnett combined to score 26 with 10 boards.

Jason Terry has totaled 29 points while hitting 12 of 22 shots from the field - 4 of 9 from beyond the arc - over the past two games for Boston.

Pierce, Garnett help Celtics rally past Bucks

MILWAUKEE (AP) Struggling from the field and in danger of losing for the second straight night, the Boston Celtics turned to their two veteran leaders to save them.

Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett each scored eight points in the fourth quarter to help the Celtics rally to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 96-92 on Saturday night.

Pierce led the Celtics with 25 points and Garnett added 18. Boston got even with the Bucks after Milwaukee knocked off the Celtics 99-88 in Boston on Nov. 2.

"It's a big win for us," Pierce said. "We haven't been playing well, but tonight we grinded it out. We were down double figures. Sometimes an early road trip can bring you together and maybe this is just what the doctor ordered."

The Celtics lost 106-100 at home to Philadelphia on Friday.

"We just have to keep getting better," Boston coach Doc Rivers said. "I believe in this team. We just have to play hard every night. It'll give us a chance to win games when we're not playing great."

The Celtics held Brandon Jennings to just four points on 1 of 10 shooting and Mike Dunleavy to two points on 1 of 4 shooting. Jennings scored 21 points and had 13 assists in the team's first meeting this season.

"Coach has talked the last three days about grinding it out," Celtics guard Jason Terry said. "Whatever it takes to get the job done. It's not going to be pretty. We know what we hang our hat on, and that's the defensive end."

Rajon Rondo had 10 points and 10 assists for the Celtics, giving him 30 straight games with 10 or more assists, the third-longest streak in NBA history. Magic Johnson has the longest streak at 46 games from April 1983 to February 1984.

Monta Ellis led the Bucks with 32 points, while Samuel Dalembert added 14 points and eight rebounds.

"They hit the shots when it mattered," Ellis said. "We fought hard the whole game, but in the end, they hit the shots they had to and we didn't."

Bucks forward Larry Sanders said he knew Boston would come out and play hard after losing Friday night. Sanders continued his strong early season play with 10 points and 12 rebounds, his fifth straight game with more than 10 points. He scored more than 10 points in three games all of last season.

"They are a tough team," he said. "We knew they struggled last night and were going to come out hungry tonight. They did and put ourselves in a position to win the game, but unfortunately it didn't go our way."

Boston, which struggled shooting the first three quarters, outscored the Bucks 10-4 to start the fourth and grab a 74-72 lead when Jeff Green scored on a driving layup with 6:10 remaining.

Pierce and Ellis then traded baskets, with Ellis drilling a 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 3:52 remaining to give Milwaukee an 82-81 lead.

Milwaukee cut the score to 91-90 when Marquis Daniels hit a short jumper with 25 seconds remaining. Jason Terry was fouled and hit one of two free throws with 22 seconds remaining to make the score 92-90.

Ersan Ilyasova lost the ball near the basket for the Bucks and it was grabbed by the Celtics. Pierce then hit one of two free throws with 4.9 seconds remaining to make the score 93-90.

Rondo fouled Jennings as soon as he got the inbound pass, but Jennings hit just one of two free throws to make the score 94-92 with 4.5 seconds remaining.

Rondo was fouled and hit one of two free throws to make the score 94-91. Ellis was then fouled and hit the first free throw. The Bucks were called for a lane violation as Ellis tried to miss the second free throw on purpose.

Notes: Jennings was in the lineup after being ejected with under a minute left in the Bucks' win over Washington on Friday. Jennings shoved Wizards guard Bradley Beal after a hard foul Beal made on Ellis ... Rivers changed his starting lineup, opening the game with Terry and Brandon Bass. It was Terry's first start of the season. The game was the first of four straight for Boston on the road. The Celtics next play Chicago on Monday.

THE FACTS: Paul Pierce scored 25 points and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds, and Kevin Garnett added 18 points, including three huge jumpers down the stretch, as the Boston Celtics fought off the Milwaukee Bucks for a 96-92 victory Saturday night in Milwaukee.

Pierce pulled a struggling offense out of the doldrums as the Celtics shot 54.5 percent in the fourth quarter after hitting just 40 percent in the first 36 minutes.

Monta Ellis led the Bucks (3-2) with 32 points and eight assists but he didn't get enough help as the Bucks shot just 40.2 percent for the game.

QUOTABLE: "It was just ball movement. Rondo's penetration really opened up things, I was able to knock down some shots, I think we spread the floor pretty good. We put Rondo in the middle and let him create and we shared the ball." -- Pierce on the Celtics' offense down the stretch.

THE STAT: On a night where both teams struggled at the offensive end, the Celtics found their game at just the right time. After Mike Dunleavy tied the game for Milwaukee at 74-74 with 5:40 left, the Celtics made 8 of their next 10 shots. In fact, after missing their first five shots of the fourth, the Celtics made 12 of 17 the rest of the way.

TURNING POINT: Ellis gave the Bucks their last lead at 82-81 on a 3-pointer with 3:54 left, but Garnett made consecutive jumpers and Brandon Bass capped a 6-0 run with another jumper to give the Celtics an 87-82 lead with 2:29 left. The Bucks would never get back to even again.

QUOTABLE II: "What was nice is every guy took the shot in their spot. That's something we talked about. I want guys to shoot any time they get it as long as it's their shot and their spot. I'll have to watch the film and find out why the last 8 minutes it happened." -- Boston head coach Doc Rivers on his team's shooting down the stretch.

HOT: On a night where both teams struggled, Bucks center Samuel Dalembert made 6 of 8 shots for a season-high 14 points.

NOT: Bucks guard Brandon Jennings made just 1 of 11 shots, and Boston's Leandro Barbosa went 0 for 6.

GOOD MOVE: When the Celtics couldn't get their offense going and fell behind, 40-30, in the second quarter, Rivers went with a small lineup of Rajon Rondo, Jason Terry, Pierce, Bass and Chris Wilcox, and the Celtics pulled within 42-39 by halftime.

NOTABLE: Dalembert had four dunks and nine points in the first 6:53, all on pick-and-rolls to the hoop from either Jennings or Ellis. ... The Celtics went on an 18-2 run spanning the end of the second quarter and start of the third. ... Rondo had a double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. He now has 30 consecutive games with 10 or more assists. Only Magic Johnson (46) and John Stockton (37) have longer such streaks. ... Bucks center Larry Sanders had 10 points and 12 rebounds. Sanders has scored in double figures in all five games. He did so in just three games all of last season. ... Jennings had two steals and has multiple steals in all five games. ...
