The Miami Heat have had to deal with their fair share of injuries. Now they have yet another one to overcome as they push for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.

With starting point guard Mario Chalmers out up to two weeks with a sprained right knee, the visiting Heat try for their ninth win in 10 meetings with the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night.

LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller and other Heat players have missed time due to injuries, while forward Udonis Haslem remains out after rupturing a ligament in his left foot Nov. 20.

Despite the rash of health problems, the third-place Heat (48-22) are just a few games out of the top spot in the East. Miami, though, will have to deal with another key personnel loss, as Chalmers was hurt in the first quarter of a 103-98 win over Denver on Saturday.

"Injuries have just figured out a way to bite us, seems at the wrong times," said James, averaging 38.0 points and 67.4 percent shooting in his last two games. "And it happened again (Saturday). Hopefully it's not a huge thing."

Mike Bibby, signed March 2 after being waived by Washington, went 4 of 8 from 3-point range and scored 14 points after replacing Chalmers on Saturday.

"I think Mike fits right in," said Wade, who scored 32 points against the Nuggets. "He's a guy who's great when he gets the ball ... a very good shooter and most importantly, he's a veteran guy who's very smart. He's going to be big for us in the playoffs."

Since surrendering an average of 101.4 points during a season-worst five-game losing streak, the Heat have limited opponents to 88.7 points and 40.8 percent shooting in taking five of six.

"A lot of ups and downs, but I think it's been good for this team," said Bosh, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds Saturday for his season-best fifth consecutive double-double. "After the smoke cleared, I think we're better."

Miami, which last swept the Pistons in 2000-01, has taken all three matchups this season while holding them to an average of 83.7 points.

James scored 39 in an 88-87 win over Detroit on Jan. 28 with Bosh and Wade sidelined.

Following a 1-6 stretch at home during which they averaged 91.3 points, the 11th-place Pistons (25-45) have won five of seven at The Palace of Auburn Hills, scoring 108.4 in that span.

Detroit, 5 1/2 games behind Indiana for the final playoff spot, had allowed an average of 94.0 points in back-to-back wins before falling 104-96 at Atlanta on Sunday - its seventh consecutive defeat on the road.

The Pistons dropped to 3-29 in regulation when giving up 100 or more points.

Rodney Stuckey had 22 points and eight assists while fellow reserve Chris Wilcox went 9 of 10 from the floor for 18 points.

Wilcox has averaged 14.5 points during his last four games - 8.0 more than his season mark.

"He's been outstanding," coach John Kuester told the Pistons' official website. "The things we've been working on during practice have carried over to what we're doing in games. He's one of the guys who can play above the rim."

Richard Hamilton returned after missing one game due to the death of his grandfather. He had six points on 2-of-9 shooting after averaging 19.8 over his four previous games.

Heat open 4th with 15-0 run to beat Pistons 100-94

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) For about six minutes at the start of the fourth quarter, the Miami Heat looked like championship contenders.

Against the Detroit Pistons, that was enough.

Dwyane Wade scored 24 points and Chris Bosh added 23 to help the Heat rally for a 100-94 win over the Pistons on Wednesday night.

The Heat trailed by 11 late in the third quarter before Miami's Mike Miller made a 3-pointer in the final seconds. The Heat then scored the first 15 points of the fourth.

"It's a 48-minute game, and we need to play all 48 minutes," LeBron James said. "We didn't do that tonight, but we took a team that was rolling and we held them to 13 points on 4-of-19 shooting in the fourth. That's big."

James had 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for Miami, which has won six of seven following a five-game losing streak.

Detroit had the ball down by four in the final minute, but Greg Monroe missed a layup, forcing the Pistons to foul.

"It's always frustrating when you lose a game when you think you control the game, control the tempo of the game," Monroe said. "You've got to control the game all the way to the fourth quarter and close the game out."

Richard Hamilton led Detroit with 27 points. He made back-to-back 3-pointers from the same spot in the left corner late in the third to give the Pistons a 78-70 lead. Mike Bibby appeared to answer with a 3-pointer of his own with the shot clock running out, but the Miami guard's shot ended up being disallowed between quarters.

Detroit led 81-73 after three, but went scoreless until Tracy McGrady made a shot from the top of the key with 6:25 left in the game.

"We were getting our tails handed to us and it was humbling through three quarters," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said. "There is no easy way in this league, there really isn't."

Detroit committed two defensive 3-second violations in the first 1:13 of the fourth, and when James made a left-handed layup, the Heat had an 82-81 advantage - their first lead since 8-7.

Rodney Stuckey fired up the crowd a bit with a one-handed dunk on a drive through the lane for Detroit, but James did him one better shortly after that, throwing down an emphatic right-handed slam off a pass from Wade to make it 94-85.

"We went through that spurt where all of a sudden we get nothing in the post when we were posting the ball," Detroit coach John Kuester said. "We weren't getting anything out of our set plays where we were getting guys coming off of screens."

In his previous game at Detroit, James made news by taking a heckler to task early in Miami's win over the Pistons. He isn't received as badly in Detroit as he is in Cleveland, but James - who said he had family in the arena Wednesday - says he's always prepared for a tough crowd.

"There's drama here, too," he said. "There is drama at every road game I play. They are used to it."

Bibby made his first start for Miami in his 11th game with the team, scoring five points. The Heat are without guard Mario Chalmers (sprained right knee) and center Zydrunas Ilgauskas (right foot infection).

Miller finished with 13 points for Miami.

Monroe had 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Pistons, while Tayshaun Prince added 13 points and Chris Wilcox scored 10.

Miami moved within 1 1/2 games of Boston for the No. 2 spot in the Eastern Conference.

"It was a good win for us on the road tonight," Wade said. "We want to continue to play well and tonight I think that we found a way to win."

Notes: Detroit's Ben Wallace missed the game because of a sore left knee. Wilcox started at center for the Pistons in the team's 20th different starting lineup of the season. ... Bosh went 11 of 12 on free throws, his fifth straight game with at least 10 attempts from the line. ... Miami improved to 13-0 when James, Wade and Bosh each shoot at least 50 percent from the field. James went 8 of 16, Wade was 7 of 13 and Bosh finished 6 of 11. ... Detroit owner Karen Davidson said at halftime she had no comment on the status of the team's sale.

THE FACTS: Dwyane Wade had 24 points and the Miami Heat held the pesky Detroit Pistons to 13 fourth-quarter points in a 100-94 victory Wednesday at The Palace. LeBron James added 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Heat won for the sixth time in seven games.

QUOTABLE: "We did play 11 straight playoff-contending teams but this team played well. You've got to give them credit, they played well early. But we knew we had to continue to keep grinding and keep grinding and eventually, we will break them."
-- Wade on taking the Pistons' best shot.

THE STAT: 31-for-52, 59.6 percent. Miami's defense, ranked No. 2 in defensive field-goal percentage, allowed the Pistons to shoot 59.6 percent through the first three quarters. The Pistons wound up shooting 49.3 percent for the game after being held to 4-for-19 in the fourth quarter.

TURNING POINT: Down eight entering the fourth, the Heat reeled off 15 unanswered points to grab an 88-81 lead. The Pistons started the quarter with five reserves but head coach John Kuester was forced to bring back four starters before the run ended. James had four points and two assists during that stretch. The Pistons didn't score until Tracy McGrady's jumper with 6:21 remaining.

QUOTABLE II: "We were getting our tails handed to us. It was humbling through three quarters. There is no easy win in this league. If you're not bringing your best effort with a sense of urgency and a real disposition on that side of the floor, that can happen to you."

HOT: Reserve guard Mike Miller came alive for the Heat with 13 points, including three 3-pointers. He had scored a combined 11 points in the previous five games.

NOT: Detroit's bench, ranked No. 3 leaguewide at 39.4 ppg, did not deliver its usual offensive punch. Pistons' reserves had just 23 points on 8-for-21 shooting. Ben Gordon went scoreless in 11 minutes.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Chris Bosh continued his strong March with 23 points and seven rebounds. He is averaging 18.8 points and 9.1 rebounds during the month.

ROOKIE WATCH: Pistons forward/center Greg Monroe recorded his 10th double-double since the All-Star break with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Monroe has 17 double-doubles, equaling the combined amount of his teammates.

NOTABLE: Miami recorded its first season sweep of the Pistons since the 2000-01 season. ... James extended his personal winning streak against Detroit, dating back to his last two seasons in Cleveland, to 15 games. ... Mike Bibby made his first start at point guard for the Heat since he was signed 11 games ago. He had five points and four assists. He replaced Mario Chalmers, who is out 10-14 days with a sprained right knee. ... Pistons center Ben Wallace missed the game with a sore knee, forcing Kuester to use his 20th lineup this season. ... Richard Hamilton led them with 27 points. ... Miami's previous opponents this month had a 64.7 winning percentage. The Pistons' winning percentage is 35.2.
