Orlando has not played all that great on its five-game road trip. However, a stop in Milwaukee might give the Magic a good chance to end the swing with a winning record.

The Magic look to bounce back from their latest defeat by handing the Bucks a third consecutive loss Wednesday night.

Orlando (42-26) averaged 112.3 points while winning two of three to open the trip, but took a step back in Monday's 97-84 loss to the Lakers. The Magic committed 18 turnovers for the second time in three games and were outscored 56-38 in the second half to lose for the fourth time in six games.

"We're pretty good when we're not throwing the ball to the other team," coach Stan Van Gundy told the Magic's official website.

Dwight Howard had 22 points with 15 rebounds, but didn't have an easy time with the constant pressure he faced inside.

"They squared everybody in the paint and they forced me to make plays out to my teammates," Howard said. "They made it tough for me to score. We've just got to learn how to play through it."

The Magic didn't fare well without Howard and point guard Jameer Nelson in their last visit to Milwaukee. With the pair sidelined because of a stomach virus, Orlando shot 41.5 percent in a 96-85 loss to the Bucks on Dec. 4.

Howard, however, made his presence felt in the teams' last meeting with 28 points and 13 boards in a 97-87 home win Jan. 5. He is averaging 24.4 points and 15.5 rebounds his last 25 games, and 24.5 with 14.0 his last four at Milwaukee.

Though Orlando lost its last trip to the Bradley Center, the Magic have won 14 of 19 overall against a Bucks team that continues to struggle on the offensive end.

After averaging 102.0 points and shooting 50.4 percent while winning three straight over Washington, Cleveland and Philadelphia, the Bucks (26-40) lost 87-56 at Boston on Sunday and 110-85 at Atlanta on Tuesday. Only eight of Milwaukee's victories have come against teams that currently have winning records.

The Bucks had 39 points at halftime and shot 41.9 percent Tuesday.

"It's just another one of those games where we didn't play very well," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said.

Despite their struggles against the NBA's better teams, the Bucks are in 10th place and 2 1/2 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Last in the league in scoring (92.5 points per game) and field goal percentage (42.5 percent), the Bucks have shot 37.2 percent the last two games.

Andrew Bogut had 21 points with 13 rebounds Tuesday, but point guard Brandon Jennings was held to four on 1-of-8 shooting. Jennings has totaled 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting the last two games.

Without Howard and Nelson on the court, Bogut had 31 points with 18 rebounds while Jennings had 27 with seven boards and six assists against Orlando in December.

Jennings missed the teams' January meeting with a foot injury, but Bogut was held to six points and seven rebounds in that contest.

Howard goes for 31 and 22 in Magic's OT win

MILWAUKEE (AP) Even though Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic clinched a playoff berth with their effort on Wednesday night, the performance left a lot for them to ponder.

"We did about everything wrong we could do," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said. "Another game with 19 turnovers, we didn't make any free throws, we couldn't stop them. But we got out with a win."

Howard had 31 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Magic to a 93-89 overtime victory over the Milwaukee Bucks to wrap up a winning five-game road trip.

"The only thing that matters is we got a win," Howard said. "Are we satisfied with the way we won the game? No, but we won the game. That's all that matters."

Orlando tried to give this one away in lots of different ways before Hedo Turkoglu came through in overtime with eight of his 19 points to salvage a victory even though the Bucks were missing center Andrew Bogut due to a migraine headache.

"We didn't imagine playing in overtime tonight," Turkoglu said. "They had a lot of movement and energy out there, but in the end we just knew how to execute better, made some big plays, hit some big shots and put the game away."

The Magic went 20 of 35 from the free throw line, with Howard tying a career high with 24 attempts. He made only 13 of them. The misses, as well as two bad plays by Jameer Nelson down the stretch, nearly cost Orlando.

Brandon Jennings scored 23 points and John Salmons scored 20 of his 22 in the second half and overtime.

Orlando finished the trip 3-2 and saved one of its best rebounding efforts for the end, grabbing 10 offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter and overtime as Milwaukee lost rookie Larry Sanders and Jon Brockman due to foul trouble.

Turkoglu made a key jumper in the corner with a minute left, Earl Barron missed one and Nelson added a basket of his own to give Orlando a 91-87 lead with 24 seconds left.

Salmons answered with a layup, but Turkoglu made two free throws for the final margin.

"Turkoglu played huge for them in the overtime. He really didn't do too much during the game, but when overtime came, he knocked down a bunch of big shots for them," Jennings said. "We just couldn't convert."

Orlando could've wrapped up the game in a back-and-forth fourth quarter, but missed seven free-throw attempts down the stretch. Ryan Anderson hit the first of two to put the Magic ahead 79-74 with 40 seconds left.

Keyon Dooling answered with two free throws and Nelson made another gaffe with 4.3 seconds left when he fouled Jennings behind the 3-point line.

"It was close," Van Gundy said. "We wanted to foul him only if he put it on the floor right on the dribble. He was a little late, so I thought it was close."

Jennings sunk all three to tie the game and Jason Richardson's 29-footer at the buzzer clanked harmlessly off the side of the rim to send the game to overtime.

Howard said he felt good about his approach at the free-throw line, even though he missed so many and realized that the game should've been put away long before the extra period.

"I know for myself, everything was in and out or it looked good, it just didn't go in," Howard said. "Every time I step to the line, it felt good. But sometimes, the results are not the way we want them."

The results have been against Milwaukee all season. The Bucks have been the worst-shooting, lowest-scoring team in the NBA and had appeared briefly to shake out of their season-long slump with a three-game winning streak.

But Milwaukee scored a franchise-low 56 points in a 31-point loss to Boston on Sunday and then fell 110-85 in Atlanta, shooting 37.1 percent over the two-game skid.

It looked like more of the same.

Milwaukee missed 14 straight shots and committed three turnovers over a 7 1/2-minute stretch as Orlando used a 17-1 run to take a lead that reached 14 in the first half and had the Magic looking relaxed.

At one point during a timeout, Orlando guard Chris Duhon joined in the fun with his own shimmy when the in-house entertainment asked fans to dance to "Teach Me How to Dougie."

Duhon's moves drew giggles at the end of the bench, but Salmons and Milwaukee started the second half hot as it turned out to be no laugher for Orlando. In the end, Milwaukee came up short again.

"It's not that we haven't moved the ball, it's that we're not getting anything from it," Bucks coach Scott Skiles said. "We've got to be really sharp with our execution and make good decisions. There has been too much tape where we have guys open and we're just not seeing them."

Notes: Magic G J.J. Redick (lower abdominal strain) missed his fourth straight game. ... Van Gundy is keeping quiet about NBA Commissioner David Stern. When Van Gundy was asked if he'd learned any lessons from his back-and-forth with Stern, Van Gundy said: "I'm not allowed to comment on that. I guess that's what I've learned."

THE FACTS: Dwight Howard had 31 points and 21 rebounds, and Hedo Turkoglu added 19 points, including eight in overtime, as the Orlando Magic clinched a playoff spot with a 93-89 victory over the Andrew Bogut-less Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night at the Bradley Center.

QUOTABLE: "You have to give a lot of credit to their guys on a back-to-back. They played harder than us. They had a lot of movement and a lot of energy, so we have to give them credit. But at the end we just knew how to execute better and make some big plays. We made some big shots and put the game away."

THE STAT: While Howard attempted 24 free throws himself and the Magic had 35 attempts as a team, the Bucks went to the line just 17 times. With Bogut out, Bucks big men Larry Sanders and Jon Brockman fouled out and Earl Barron finished with five fouls.

TURNING POINT: With the score tied 87-87, Turkoglu beat the shot clock with a 20-footer from the left baseline with 1:00 left in overtime. After Barron missed for Milwaukee, Jameer Nelson hit a jump shot -- also as the shot clock was expiring -- with 23.5 seconds left, and the Magic finally shook off the pesky Bucks.

QUOTABLE II: "I'm happy to get out of here with a win. We did about everything wrong we could do at the end. Another game with 19 turnovers, we didn't make any free throws, we couldn't stop them. But we got out with the win, so I'm happy."

HOT: Howard made 9-for-12 from the field to improve his season shooting percentage to 59.7 percent (534-for-894) -- second in the league.

NOT: Howard went 13-for-24 from the line (54.2 percent) and is just 58.5 percent (450-for-769) for the season.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Howard's numbers of 31 and 22 (eight offensive) along with three blocks are certain to please fantasy owners .

BAD MOVE: Nelson tried to grab Brandon Jennings before he could get a shot going to prevent a tying 3-pointer near the end of regulation. Instead, Nelson fouled Jennings too late, and the foul resulted in three free throws that Jennings made to send the game to overtime at 79-79.

ROOKIE WATCH: Sanders started in place of Bogut but had just four points and no rebounds and he fouled out in 18 minutes against Howard.

NOTABLE: Bogut missed the game because of a migraine headache. ... After baskets by Sanders and John Salmons gave the Bucks a 13-10 lead, Milwaukee missed its next 14 shots from the field and committed three turnovers over the next 7 ½ minutes. Jason Richardson's 3-pointer started a 17-1 run. After that, the Bucks made their next five field goals. ... Orlando made 18 of its first 30 shots, then made just 15 of its last 46. ... Jennings led the Bucks with 23 points, and Salmons had 22 -- 16 in the third quarter.
