If the New Jersey Nets are to accomplish a feat they haven't reached in more than two years, they'll have to do it without superstar point guard Deron Williams.

The Los Angeles Clippers won't have their leading scorer, and they've been waiting even longer for this sort of winning streak.

Williams will miss his second straight game Friday night while tending to the birth of his child when New Jersey hosts Los Angeles, which again will be without Eric Gordon.

Missing Williams on Wednesday, the Nets (20-43) beat Golden State 94-90 for their third straight victory behind 26 points and 10 rebounds from Brook Lopez. New Jersey hasn't won four consecutive games since Jan. 31-Feb. 7, 2009.

Williams, averaging 15.8 points and 15.2 assists in five games with the Nets, is expected to rejoin the team Saturday.

Lopez helped make up for the missing production with his second straight double-double, which he hadn't done since March 24-26.

"The team definitely fought through on this one," Lopez said. "I knew we'd pull it out just because of the way we were playing defense. We were getting stops."

Anthony Morrow added 22 points, and Kris Humphries had 11 and 15 rebounds for his career-high fifth consecutive double-double.

"Our big guys were terrific," said Sasha Vujacic, who had 16 points. "We were able to limit their shots and easy buckets."

Lopez scored a team-high 24 points Nov. 15 in a 110-96 victory against the Clippers.

Blake Griffin hasn't scored less than the 11 points he had in that contest since, though he came close in a rough performance Wednesday.

Los Angeles (25-40) beat Eastern Conference-leading Boston 108-103 despite only 12 points and seven rebounds from Griffin on 4-of-14 shooting. Griffin had recorded a double-double in eight straight games prior to Wednesday.

The Clippers have won a season-high four straight following a stretch in which they lost 12 of 14. They haven't won five in a row since Nov. 2-12, 2006.

Mo Williams scored 28 points, his most in five games since being acquired from Cleveland.

"There's so much attention to Blake, but you win as a team," coach Vinny Del Negro said. "The reason we're playing a little bit better is that we have weapons."

However, one of those weapons may not be around any time soon to help extend the winning streak.

Gordon, who scored 30 points in the November meeting with New Jersey, re-injured his wrist Saturday against Denver. He'll miss his third straight game Friday, and Del Negro said he isn't sure when Gordon will return.

"Let's just see how he responds to the therapy," Del Negro said. "It's his shooting hand, so it might make it a little more difficult. But all signs point to him returning. But when? That's another story."

DeAndre Jordan scored a season-high 21 points, his most since tying a career high with 23 on Jan. 12, 2010.

The Nets have not swept the Clippers in a season series since 2003-04.

Nets beat Clippers in OT, win 4th straight

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) Once the Nets grounded Blake Griffin and the Clippers' high-flying act, they pulled off their biggest comeback in two years.

Brook Lopez and Jordan Farmar each scored 24 points, combining for all eight of New Jersey's in overtime, and the Nets rallied to beat Los Angeles 102-98 Friday night for their fourth straight victory.

Kris Humphries had 19 points, a career-high 20 rebounds and made all eight shots while playing Griffin to at least a draw as the Nets erased a 20-point deficit for their longest winning streak since also taking four in a row from Jan. 31-Feb. 7, 2009.

Griffin and the Clippers had the Nets' second home sellout of the season cheering their dunks and booing the home team while dominating the first half, before New Jersey toughened up, then toughed it out.

"We stayed with it," Humphries said. "It was tough, a lot of things didn't go our way first half, I think we weren't aggressive enough to start the game. They had too many easy transition dunks and all that. It's easy to play basketball when you've just got to run down the court and dunk the ball.

"We bounced back from that. Coach got after us at halftime and we responded."

Chris Kaman had 23 points and 10 rebounds, and Griffin added 23 points and nine boards, but the All-Star forward missed the potential go-ahead free throw with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation. Randy Foye scored 19 points in his hometown, but the Clippers' four-game winning streak was snapped.

Farmar again started in place of All-Star point guard Deron Williams, who missed his second straight game after his wife gave birth to their fourth child in Dallas this week. He helped the Nets pull off their biggest comeback to win since also rallying from 20 down to beat Atlanta on Jan. 2, 2009.

"This is what you dream of, to play in the NBA ... be the one making the plays, taking big shots," Farmar said. "I just tried to step up for my teammates. Deron wasn't here, had a beautiful addition to his family, so I got a chance to play and it was good for me, good for us."

Playing in front of an announced 18,711 that included part-owner Jay-Z sitting courtside, the Nets denied the Clippers their first five-game winning streak since Nov. 2-12, 2007.

Coming off a surprising victory at Boston, the Clippers were hurt by Mo Williams' 3 of 17 shooting from the field and their 60 percent showing from the foul line.

"It's just one of those games that leaves a sour taste in your mouth," Williams said. "Obviously I'm disappointed in my performance personally. As a team we didn't do the things we did the first half for whatever reason. It starts with me, also. I take a lot of blame in it. Just not being able to stop the bleeding in the second half and make plays for my teammates."

Farmar drove for a layup and a 92-91 lead with 16 seconds remaining in regulation before Griffin spun past Humphries for a bucket in the lane with 12 seconds to go. The Nets went to Lopez, who used a couple of nifty moves in the lane to score from 3 feet with 3.8 seconds left for a 94-93 edge. Griffin then drove past Lopez, going down hard after the Nets' center fouled him at the rim.

Griffin made the first, but the second rattled out with 1.2 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

Lopez scored inside for the first four points, and Humphries drew offensive fouls from Griffin twice to help the Nets stay ahead. A 3-pointer by Farmar put the Nets up five with 2:28 to play, and the Clippers missed a chance to tie in the final half-minute when Williams was off on a 3-pointer before Farmar added a final free throw to finish it.

"In the second half we just kind of let up," Griffin said. "They applied the pressure and we didn't do too well."

The Nets' other home sellout was against the Knicks, a game that felt like a road contest for New Jersey with New Yorkers crossing the river to fill the arena.

"We feel tonight we'll have more of the crowd on our side and that's a good thing," Nets coach Avery Johnson.

Actually, the Nets were booed in the first half, when their sloppy play fueled the Clippers' transition game. But the fans were solidly on the Nets' side in the tense closing minutes.

The Clippers' first four field goals were dunks, with Griffin adding another one to his highlight reel by reaching to catch a lob pass from Williams on the break with his left hand and slamming it down. The Nets began hearing boos midway through the second after a layup by Foye made it 41-21. The Clippers led 51-37 at the break on the strength of 34 points in the paint.

New Jersey quickly wiped that away. Humphries had the Nets' last six points of the third period, including a jumper that gave them a 68-67 advantage going to the fourth.

Notes: A number of NBA mascots were at the game to celebrate Nets mascot Sly the Fox's birthday. The Orlando Magic's, Stuff, a magic dragon, was doing an act in the stands where he pulled his shirt over a fan's head, and the fan and another started hitting the mascot, who was dragged away to safety while one of the fans was taken away by security. ... Foye attended Newark's East Side High School and was the New Jersey player of the year in 2002.

Clippers-Nets notebook

THE FACTS: Led by the sterling inside tandem of Kris Humphries (19 points and a career-high 20 rebounds) and Brook Lopez (24 points, seven rebounds), and sparked by Jordan Farmar (24 second-half points, seven assists), the Nets downed the Clippers in overtime, 102-98. Blake Griffin had a chance to give the Clippers a one-point lead with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation, but he split a pair of free throws, sending the game to the extra session.

Griffin (23 points, nine rebounds), Randy Foye (19 points, seven assists) and Chris Kaman (23 points, 10 rebounds) all featured in defeat.

QUOTABLE: "We're a pretty gutsy team. We have been in two triple-overtime games this year and the guys just never really quit. I told them I was really disappointed with what I was looking at in the first half. I didn't have a smile on my face either, but they bounced back and rose to the challenge."

THE STAT: Six minutes and 48 seconds is the amount of game clock that elapsed between the beginning of the second half and the Nets tying the game at 57-57 on a Farmar layup. The span changed the entire complexion of the game.

TURNING POINT: Halftime. Whatever Johnson said to light a fire under the Nets worked as they erased a 14-point deficit in a little over half a quarter.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Not only did Humphries nearly have a 20-20 game, he was perfect (8-for-8) from the field. "We call him lumberjack," Farmar said of Humphries. "He's the guy that goes to work for us every day. He's the tough, the man on the floor and he makes things happen."

INSIDE THE ARENA: Sly was joined on the court by other mascots to celebrate his birthday. The Orlando Magic mascot, Stuff, was ejected early in the fourth quarter due to an incident with a fan... Jay-Z sat a few seats down from the Nets bench per usual...DeAndre Jordan stepped all over some fans sitting courtside while chasing down a loose ball in the fourth quarter.

ROOKIE WATCH: Griffin had an average game -- for him -- while Al-Farouq Aminu(eight points, five rebounds, careless with the ball) and Eric Bledsoe (scoreless) played their roles.

NOTABLE: The Clippers scored their first 10 points on five dunks from Griffin and Jordan. The third slam, a sky-high left-handed alley-oop finish from Griffin, and the reaction it drew from the crowd instantly revealed why the game was a sellout...Nets not named Lopez started the game shooting 2-for-12...Travis Outlaw started the second half in place of Sasha Vujacic and the Nets began the third quarter on an 8-0 run...Griffin picked up back-to-back offensive fouls in overtime, both times trying maneuver on Humphries...A driving layup from Foye, a Newark native, gave the Clippers a 41-21 lead midway through the second quarter, making a Nets victory seem highly unlikely.
