Dwight Howard isn't too concerned about the Orlando Magic's losing streak.

Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro is extremely worried about his team giving away so many possessions.

Howard and the Magic try to avoid their first five-game skid since 2006-07 on Sunday night, when the host Clippers try to bounce back from consecutive one-point defeats.

Orlando (15-8), whose season-high six-game run gave it a 2 1/2-game Southeast Division lead Dec. 3, has since dropped four straight for the first time since Jan. 2-8.

Leading the league in scoring defense heading into Friday's game in Utah with 91.1 points per game, the Magic yielded a season-high in points in a 117-105 loss.

Despite the Magic being in jeopardy of their first 0-5 slide since Jan. 12-20, 2007, Howard is not ready to panic as Orlando continues its four-game western swing.

"Everyone needs to calm down, that's it. You are going to lose games," he said. "When all we talk about is the losing, then we're going to keep on losing."

Del Negro knows the league-worst Clippers (5-19) will suffer plenty more defeats if they doesn't take better care of the ball. After committing 20 turnovers and losing 87-86 to the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday on a last-second layup by Derek Fisher, the Clippers had a season-worst 27 Saturday in a 84-83 setback to Memphis.

Del Negro's team is among the league's worst with 17.2 turnovers per game.

"... We don't value the ball enough," he said. "Guys are having four and five turnovers every night. You just can't win like that."

While the Clippers' starting backcourt of rookie Eric Bledsoe and Eric Gordon has struggled with 19 combined turnovers in the last two games, No. 1 overall pick Blake Griffin has been a rock down low with 11 consecutive double-doubles.

Griffin is one of three players - along with Howard - averaging at least 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds.

"The Clippers have got a diamond in the rough," former Clipper Zach Randolph said Saturday after Griffin scored 19 with 11 boards. "... His talent had just a tremendous upside and he's going to be an All-Star."

Howard, a four-time All-Star, has posted three straight double-doubles since missing two games with a stomach virus, and will go for his eighth in a row versus the Clippers. He is averaging 19.3 points and 15.3 rebounds and 3.0 blocks during those matchups - all wins - and had 25 points,11 boards and seven blocks as the Magic won their third straight visiting the Clippers, 97-86 on Dec. 8, 2009.

With the team announcing Friday that All-Star Chris Kaman will be sidelined for at least three weeks with due to an aggravated bone bruise and ligament sprain in his left ankle, DeAndre Jordan will continue to start at center for the Clippers. He recorded his first double-double of the season Saturday with 10 points and a season-high 14 boards.

Magic coach Stan Van Gundy could start Brandon Bass ahead of Quentin Richardson at the power forward spot again. Making his first start of 2010-11, and ninth of his six-year career, Bass had 18 points and eight rebounds in Friday's loss.

"Sunday we've got to turn things around and get back to playing Magic basketball," he said.

Orlando's last four-game road losing streak was an 0-5 skid from Feb. 28-March 12, 2007.

Magic beat Clippers 94-85 to end 4-game skid

LOS ANGELES (AP) The Orlando Magic came out running the floor and defending with seemingly boundless energy. The Los Angeles Clippers never knew what hit them.

Dwight Howard scored 22 points and the Magic won 94-85 Sunday night, snapping skids of four games overall and three straight on the road.

Jameer Nelson added 17 points, Vince Carter 13, and Brandon Bass had 13 points and a career high-tying 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season.

The Magic built a 26-point lead early in the second quarter, and the Clippers never fully dug themselves out.

Blake Griffin had 27 points and 16 rebounds for his 18th double-double, and Eric Gordon scored 28 points for the Clippers, who lost for the eighth time in a row to Orlando. Their NBA-worst record dropped to 5-20, and they have yet to beat an Eastern Conference team in five tries.

Griffin earned kudos from Howard after their first matchup, just like he did earlier in the week after playing against Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant.

"He is really aggressive out there. That is what I like about him," Howard said. "He just needs to continue to work hard and get better. They are going to be a good team."

After losing consecutive one-point games, the Clippers only got as close as six points in the fourth quarter on Baron Davis' alley-oop pass to Griffin, whose dunk briefly brought the crowd to its feet. Los Angeles trailed by 26 points early in the second.

"It started on the defensive end. We did a great job of forcing them into taking a bad shot with the shot clock running low," Griffin said about the play. "As soon as we had it, I just took off and Baron put the ball on the money like he always does."

Bass dunked for the Magic, who made just three of their next eight free throws but regained a double-digit lead that they held for most of the final minutes.

"We did some really good things, like take care of the ball," Griffin said, noting the team's season-low eight turnovers. "We still got to be more consistent and play a whole game.

"It's tough, but at the same time I know it's not going to happen overnight. It's going to be gradual."

Orlando's defense had been allowing 92.2 points a game - third-highest in the league - but the poor-shooting Clippers were no threat to reach that total. They hit 38 percent from the floor for the game, and a measly 24 percent in the first quarter.

"My first six shots were wide open, I just wasn't knocking them down," Gordon said. "We just had a bad start. We cut it down to six, but it still takes a toll on you. We took good shots and just didn't make them."

In the Clippers' last three losses, they've been well under their season averages in points and shooting percentage.

"We had some good looks, we just couldn't knock anything down," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said.

The Clippers trailed 69-59 after outscoring the Magic 19-10 in the third. Howard picked up his fourth foul 1 1/2 minutes into the period and sat down, while Nelson was limited to a 3-pointer and Carter had four points.

"We have been struggling defensively anyway but without Dwight, people just attack the rim and we seem absolutely helpless to do anything about it," Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said.

Howard could see what was wrong from the bench.

"The ball was stagnant, we weren't getting in the paint, we took a lot of jumpshots," he said. "I just wanted to be aggressive on the offensive end and try to get some fouls, get to the free throw line, but also just attack. We stopped attacking and that allowed them to get back in the game."

Los Angeles cut its 26-point deficit down in the second to trail 59-40 at halftime. Griffin and Gordon had seven points each. The Magic built their largest lead using a 19-4 run over the end of the first and start of the second, with six different players scoring.

The Magic outran the Clippers in the opening quarter when they shot 64 percent from the floor and owned a 20-2 edge in the paint.

Notes: Gordon has scored 20 or more points 20 times this season. ... Van Gundy earned career victory No. 298. ... The Magic improved to 7-5 on the road. ... The Clippers' last win against the Magic was on Dec. 3, 2006. ... After two days off, the Clippers open a three-game trip on Wednesday at Philadelphia. They are 0-10 on the road.

THE FACTS: The Orlando Magic surged to an early 19-point lead and put it in cruise control from there Sunday night, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers, 94-85, at Staples Center, ending a four-game losing streak.

QUOTABLE: "The first half was tremendous," said Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy. "It looked like we really wanted to play."

THE STAT: Orlando center Dwight Howard was limited to 13 minutes through the first three quarters due to foul trouble, but played almost the entire fourth quarter, scoring 13 of his team-high 22 points to help hold back the late-charging Clippers.

TURNING POINT: The Magic went on a 23-7 run in the opening quarter to take a 19-point lead with two minutes remaining. That provided a large margin of error, and they needed it as the Clippers came as close as 74-68 with 9:01 remaining in the game.

QUOTE II: "Dwight's absence really hurt us," Van Gundy said. "We have been struggling defensively anyway, but without Dwight people just attack the rim and we seem absolutely helpless to do anything about it."

HOT: The Magic shot 64 percent from the floor in the opening quarter (16-for-25) to take a 35-14 lead, the largest home deficit for the Clippers this season.

NOT: After the Clippers cut Orlando's lead to six points in the fourth quarter, point guard Baron Davis reverted back to past form, missing two outside shots, a driving layup attempt and committing a turnover. During that stretch, Orlando missed five out of six free-throw attempts, but the Clippers couldn't take advantage.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Clippers shooting guard Eric Gordon came into the game seventh in the league at 24.3 points a game. He started painfully slow, missing all six field-goal attempts and committing two turnovers in the opening quarter, but finished with 28 points and eight assists.

GOOD MOVE: Brandon Bass started his second consecutive game for the Magic and provided some positive energy in the opening quarter, scoring eight of his 13 points. He finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double since February 2009.

BAD MOVE: Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro reinserted Davis and Ryan Gomes into the starting lineup in place of rookies Eric Bledsoe and Al-Farouq Aminu, but they didn't offer much, shooting a combined 3-for-13 from the field with six points.

ROOKIE WATCH: Blake Griffin continues to get it done on both ends of the floor. He was forced to use more of his perimeter game against the Magic, but still finished with 27 points, 16 rebounds and five assists. His highlight of the game was an ally-oop dunk off a Davis pass from beyond mid-court, the play which cut the deficit to six points in the fourth.

NOTABLE: A day after committing a season-high 27 turnovers, the Clippers committed a season-low eight against the Magic. Unfortunately, they just couldn't shoot the ball well enough.
