The Utah Jazz are on a roll thanks to Deron Williams and strong scoring depth. A visit from the potentially short-handed Milwaukee Bucks may not provide much of an obstacle.

Williams looks to help the Jazz extend their winning streak to six by continuing their home domination of the Bucks on Monday night.

Utah (13-5) has won 13 of 16 after opening the season with consecutive lopsided losses. The current five-game winning streak is the second of this extended hot streak.

The Jazz, who have held opponents to an average of 91.4 points during their last five victories, last won six in a row in a nine-game run Jan. 20-Feb. 9.

Williams, the team leader with 21.9 points and 9.9 assists per game, has been a major spark of late. The All-Star guard is shooting 58.7 percent over the last three games while averaging 27.0 points and 10.7 assists.

He connected on 8 of 14 shots Sunday, finishing with 26 points to lead six Jazz players in double figures during a 109-97 road win over the Los Angeles Clippers.

"Our guys have played pretty well together and our bench has given us a tremendous lift to put us in a position to be able to win a lot of those games," coach Jerry Sloan said. "Those guys have given us a great deal of life to fight back, and it's been fun."

The Jazz are now looking for a strong start to their season-high six-game homestand, and facing Milwaukee (6-10) might be an ideal way to accomplish that. They've won eight straight home meetings with the Bucks, holding them to an average of 89.1 points since a loss Oct. 30, 2001.

Utah kept that winning streak going with a 112-95 victory Jan. 16, and the Bucks will likely need another big performance from Brandon Jennings to end it.

Jennings helped Milwaukee overcome four key absences by scoring a season-high 32 points in a 104-101 home win over Charlotte on Saturday, halting a five-game slide. The Bucks have stumbled to a 2-6 mark on the road.

Jennings wasn't very effective in Milwaukee's last visit to Utah. The guard made 1 of 8 shots and finished with five points. He scored 23 in a 95-87 win in Milwaukee on March 12.

The Bucks may need to rely on Jennings heavily if Andrew Bogut (back spasms), Drew Gooden (plantar fasciitis), Corey Maggette (left ankle soreness) and Carlos Delfino (neck strain and concussion) continue to be out with injuries.

Playing without Bogut and Gooden again would leave Milwaukee without its top rebounders at 10.9 and 7.5 per game, respectively.

That would create favorable matchups for the Jazz, who will likely start forward Paul Millsap and center Al Jefferson. The duo combined for 25 points Sunday against the Clippers.

Millsap is averaging 18.9 points and 8.5 boards, while Jefferson is producing 16.5 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game.

Jazz handle short-handed Bucks

SALT LAKE CITY(AP) Utah Jazz center Al Jefferson was sporting a bloody cut on his chin. But in the end, he caused the most damage Monday night.

Jefferson, looking more and more comfortable with his new team, led Utah with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots in a 109-88 victory over injury-depleted Milwaukee.

"When we want to, we can play defense," said Jefferson, acquired from Minnesota in an offseason trade. "We've just got to continue to do that every night, no matter who we are playing."

It helped that the Bucks were without two key big men in Andrew Bogut (back) and Drew Gooden (foot), and were missing two other players because of injury or illness.

"We definitely had a big discrepancy inside and we tried to exploit it," said Utah's Deron Williams, who also scored 22 for the Jazz. "We ran a lot of plays with Al down low to get him some easy looks."

Jefferson, brought in primarily to replace departed Carlos Boozer, made it look easy.

He made 11 of 14 shots and grabbed eight defensive rebounds.

Williams was most impressed with the blocks.

"He's giving us a diferent look with blocked shots," Williams said. "Boozer didn't block many shots. He got a lot of steals, but he wasn't a shot-blocker."

Andrei Kirilenko also had four blocks as the Jazz posted a season-high 10 blocks. The Jazz held a 54-18 advantage in the paint and 48-26 edge in rebounds.

"They were short tonight, but that's a great team," Jefferson said of the Bucks (6-11). "When they're healthy, they'll be really good. That coach (Scott Skiles) makes every team he ever coached play hard and they played hard tonight. We just knew we had to pound the ball inside and hopefully they'd run out of energy."

Milwaukee, which has now lost nine straight games in Utah, tried to keep it close with an aggressive defense and plenty of 3-point shots.

The Bucks made 10 of 23 3-pointers, and led briefly in the second quarter. An 11-0 Utah run to start the fourth quarter ended any hopes the short-handed Bucks had.

Brandon Jennings led all scorers with 27 points, including four 3-pointers, while Chris Douglas-Roberts scored a season-high 19 points and Ersan Ilyasova a season-high 18.

Williams said the challenge for Utah, which has now won six straight and 14 and its last 17 after opening with consecutive lopsided losses, was as much mental as physical.

"Any time you play a team that's missing a lot of guys, it can be a dangerous game because youo expect to win, you know you should win. But at the same time it's the NBA and these are NBA players," Williams said. "They played hard. They were just a scrappy team tonight."

No team played with more energy than Utah's second unit, a bright spot all season.

Coach Jerry Sloan even joked before the game that he considered starting the reserves to provide an early spark.

"You've seen the Energizer Bunny," Kirilenko said. "(Earl Watson and Ronnie Price) are our Energizer Bunnies. They come on the floor and give us a big spark on offense and defense. They are amazing."

Utah's backup guards provided the first-half highlights, Price with a two-handed jam off a steal, and Watson with a block on 5-5 Bucks guard Earl Boykins. Watson also would bank in a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Utah a 60-52 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

"I told (Watson) that was the first block in his career, so I'm gonna say Earl's block was better," said Price, who finished with 10 points and three steals in 14 minutes. Watson had season highs in points (12) and rebounds (six).

The reserves also helped key an 11-0 run to open the fourth quarter, pushing Utah's lead to 91-73.

C.J. Miles hit a running jump shot and Francisco Elson followed with a turnaround hook to get the Jazz off and running.

"We hung in there for a while," said Skiles, who also was without Carlos Delfino and chose not to play an ill Corey Maggette. "They took it to us from mid-third quarter on and we had a hard time."

NOTES: Utah's Kyrylo Fesenko suffered a partial dislocation of his pinky finger in the second quarter, but X-rays were negative. ...The Bucks were held without scoring for the first 4 1/2 minutes of theh fourth quarter. ...The Jazz are now 10-1 when scoring 100 points or better...The Jazz next face an Indiana Pacers team they have beaten four straight times in Salt Lake City.

THE FACTS: Al Jefferson and Deron Williams had double-doubles as the Utah Jazz routed the Milwaukee Bucks 109-88 on Monday night. It was Utah's sixth straight win.

Jefferson had his seventh double-double of the season with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Williams had 22 points and 10 assists. Utah's backup guards, Earl Watson and Ronnie Price, also provided the team with a spark and kept the second unit playing well. Watson had 12 points and seven assists. Price had 10 points and three rebounds.

Brandon Jennings scored 27 points to lead the Bucks, who have lost six of their last seven games.

THE STAT: 48-26. The Bucks, without the injured Andrew Bogut and Drew Gooden, were hammered in the paint by the Jazz. Utah outrebounded Milwaukee 48-26, and collected 16 offensive boards. The Jazz also had a 54-18 advantage in points scored in the paint.

TURNING POINT: At the start of the fourth quarter, the Bucks were within striking distance of the Jazz, trailing 80-73. But Milwaukee failed to score for the first 4:41 of the period, missing its first five shots and committing three turnovers during the span. Utah was able to stretch its lead to 87-73 to put the game away.

QUOTABLE II: "At halftime we only had three guys that had a defensive rebound on the roster. I don't know if I've ever seen that in a game. They took it to us from mid-third quarter on and we had a hard time with it."

HOT: Kirilenko didn't have a great shooting night (4-for-9), but he contributed in several ways. He looked like the versatile Kirilenko of old, contributing 13 points, eight rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots.

NOT: Milwaukee's offense struggled throughout the game. The Bucks missed eight of their first 10 shots, and shot 34.7 percent in the game. No player had a worse night than Bucks guard John Salmons, who shot 1-for-11 and scored six points. For the Jazz, C.J. Miles shot 2-for-9 and scored six points.

FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Jennings had a night his owners are accustomed to. He gave them a boost by scoring nearly 10 points more than his average, but shot 8-for-20. He also had four assists, three steals and two rebounds.

GOOD MOVE: Jazz coach Jerry Sloan played Watson more than usual, and Watson earned it. He had a season-high in minutes (27), points (12), field goals made (five) and rebounds (six). He tied his season-highs for assists (seven) and steals (two). The 6-foot-1 Watson also had a blocked shot on the 5-foot-5 Earl Boykins.

ROOKIE WATCH: Larry Sanders started for the injured Bogut at center, and had been playing quite well in recent games. He didn't do much against the Jazz, however, scoring four points and grabbing two rebounds in a little more than 16 minutes of play.

NOTABLE: Bucks guard Corey Maggette dressed but did not play while dealing with ankle soreness and a sickness. ... The Jazz have defeated the Bucks nine straight times in Utah. ... Utah shot 69 percent in the second quarter. ... The Jazz had a season-high 10 blocked shots. ... Milwaukee's Chris Douglas-Roberts and Ersan Ilyasova each had season-highs in scoring. Douglas-Roberts had 19 points and Ilyasova had 18.
