OKLAHOMA CITY (NBA.com exclusive)  --  The Sacramento Kings hadn't won a season opener since 2003 and the Oklahoma City Thunder lost last season's lid-lifter en route to a 3-29 start. In fact the Thunder/Sonics hadn't won a home opener since 2004.

Both teams hoped for something better Wednesday night inside Oklahoma City's Ford Center and the Thunder got it cruising to a 102-89 win over the Kings before a sellout crowd.

"It's a good start, I thought we played good basketball tonight," said Thunder coach Scott Brooks. "We took care of the ball tonight and did a great job of staying focused."

Oklahoma City's young trio of Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook led the charge. Durant had a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, but shot just 10 of 24.

"Kevin missed a lot of shots he normally makes, he's one of out better playmakers, but he still had a great game tonight," Brooks said.

Westbrook had a double-double, too, with 14 points and a career high 13 assists. He constantly frustrated Kings rookie point guard Tyreke Evans, who finished with 10 points and was whistled for five fouls.

"It was good tonight, it's just a process of me learning and seeing the game slow down," Westbrook said. "I want to get my teammates going, finding them shots."

Green dropped in 24 points and hit 4 of 5 three-point shots.

Kevin Martin, who missed the last two preseason games with a sore ankle, led the Kings with 27 points. He got 24 of those points in the first half, but was just 1-for-9 the rest of the game. Rookie Omri Casspi scored 15 points and Jason Thompson had 11 for the Kings.

In the first half, Oklahoma City jumped on Sacramento with 68 points, 39 of them coming in the first quarter when the Thunder shot a blistering 67 percent. Oklahoma City shot 51 percent for the entire contest and limited the Kings to just 40.5 percent shooting.

"We have to continue to hold the percentage down," Brooks said. "Holding a team to 40 percent, you're doing a good job."

Both the Thunder and the Kings came into Wednesday's opener thinking they had managed to get better on the defensive end. They each also came into the game with three new starters from last year's opening night lineup.

The Thunder brought in center Nenad Krstic and guard Thabo Sefolosha at mid-season and Westbrook didn't start until Brooks took over 13 games into last season. All three had tremendous games Wednesday night, combining for 42 points.

The Kings drafted point guard Evans with the 4th pick in the 2009 Draft and signed small forward Desmond Mason in the off-season. Ex-Bobcat big man Sean May beat out Spencer Hawes for the starting center spot. Yet that trio managed just 18 points.
