The Sacramento Kings finally recorded their first road win following one of their best offensive games of the year.
They'll need another night like that on Saturday to compete with the high-scoring Washington Wizards.
Sacramento (9-13) opened 0-9 on the road before beating the Philadelphia 76ers 109-99 on Friday. The Kings were the NBA's last team to record a road win this year.
"We definitely needed that," said John Salmons, who had 19 points. "It felt good to get this first one."
The Wizards (12-10) figure to be a tougher opponent than the struggling 76ers. Not only has Sacramento lost four of its last six in the nation's capital, Washington has won three in a row, five of its last six and 12 of 17 after a 104-91 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday.
All five Wizards starters reached double figures, led by DeShawn Stevenson, who had 26 points. Caron Butler had 19 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals while Antawn Jamison added 16 points, 16 rebounds and three blocked shots.
"I get so pumped up when everyone is playing well and making shots," Stevenson said. "It's a great feeling."
The Wizards continue to play well despite being without injured Gilbert Arenas. The All-Star guard, who was averaging 22.4 points, has been out since Nov. 16, and expected to be sidelined another two months following a second surgery on his left knee.
Even without Arenas, however, Washington has maintained one of the top scoring offenses in the league. The Wizards are averaging 102.0 points, thanks in large part to Butler and Jamison, who are scoring 22.6 and 21.1 points per game, respectively.
"A lot of people are doubting us and underestimating our ability to go out there and perform at a high level but we continue to prove doubters wrong," Butler said. "We're going to go out there and leave it all on the court and just get better on the fly."
Sacramento, meanwhile has struggled to maintain its offense without leading scorer Kevin Martin. The shooting guard, who is averaging 24.5 points, has missed the last five games because of a groin injury suffered last week. His status for Saturday is unknown.
The Kings have averaged only 93.4 points without Martin after scoring 100.9 points per contest in 17 games with him. Friday's victory marked the first time Sacramento scored at least 100 since tallying 117 in a win over the Utah Jazz on Dec. 4.
Brad Miller led the Kings with 25 points and 10 rebounds while Mikki Moore tied a career-high with 24 points Friday as the Kings also played without injured starters Mike Bibby and Shareef Abdur-Rahim on Friday.
"I am pleased because it was a total team effort, and we had guys come into the game off the bench and they did their job," coach Reggie Theus said. "It's just a very good team win."
The Wizards have won four straight over the Kings after losing 12 of the previous 14.
