The Orlando Magic picked up a confidence-boosting victory in their last game. They're hoping that translates on the road when they visit the New Jersey Nets on Saturday.

The Magic beat San Antonio 106-104 on Friday night when Dwight Howard leaped high to dunk an inbounds pass from Hedo Turkoglu with 0.2 seconds remaining.

The win allowed Orlando (26-25) to snap a three-game losing streak and move back above .500 after a difficult slide over the past three weeks saw the team nearly fall out of playoff contention in the East after leading the conference earlier in the season.

The Magic had lost 11 of 14 before beating the Spurs.

"Thank God we have an unbelievable athlete capable of making an unbelievable play like that," Magic coach Brian Hill said. "Everything had to be perfect, starting with the pass and Dwight just finished it off the way only he can."

Jameer Nelson had a season-high 31 points while Howard finished with 30 as the Magic rallied from an 18-point deficit. Howard has scored 30 points in consecutive games and made 33 of his 37 field-goal attempts in the past three contests.

The Magic hope to continue that success on the road, where they've struggled for most of the season. The team has lost 11 of its last 13 games away from Orlando, including a 101-94 loss to New Jersey on Jan. 20. The Magic, who are 9-15 on the road, play three of their next four games away from home.

"Beating a good team like San Antonio has to give you confidence, especially at home," Nelson said. "To get that kind of energy and electricity from your fans really has to help you out."

The Nets (24-27) closed out a three-game road trip with consecutive wins, including a 92-78 win over Boston on Friday that extended the Celtics' losing streak to 17 games. New Jersey had lost four in a row and seven of its previous nine before beating Atlanta and Boston.

Vince Carter had 21 points. rookie Marcus Williams added 17 and Jason Kidd scored 13 with nine assists and eight rebounds for the Nets, who led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.

"I think the emphasis was to ignore the score and just worry about this play and when that play is over, go on to the next play," Nets coach Lawrence Frank said. "I think sometimes our struggle has been getting a little bit comfortable and losing focus when we have a lead."

The Nets have lost two in a row at home after a five-game winning streak. They host San Antonio on Tuesday in a rematch of the 2003 NBA Finals, won by the Spurs in six games.

New Jersey had won four straight over Orlando before the Magic beat the Nets 119-86 at home last Friday. The Nets have won three straight at home, seven of the last 10 in New Jersey and 14 of the previous 19 games in the series.
